Chapter 24 She Still Had a Chance

After Donovan spoke, he no longer paid attention to Hollis's reaction.

Initially, his decision to marry Hollis was simply to repay her for her grandpa's life-saving favor.

Because of this reason, he developed close ties with the Sutton family, to the point where he agreed when the elders suggested he marry Hollis.
He even once believed that Hollis was his true love.

It wasn't until six years ago, when that woman suddenly left him, that he realized his feelings for Hollis were not what he had imagined as love.

Afterwards, the elders of both families urged him multiple times to complete the marriage, but he always found excuses to delay.

Over the course of six years, he had done everything possible to assist the Sutton family and fulfill all their business demands, all in return for their saving his life.

Now, in his opinion, the debt had been repaid sufficiently.

At least, there was no need for them to get married.

"Van."

Hollis saw his expressionless face, her voice trembling as she wanted to confirm her suspicions.

Donovan pressed his brows and calmly interrupted her, "Put the documents down, I'll look at them later. I still have work to do, nothing else, you can leave."

Hollis bit her lip and looked at him for a while. Seeing that he ignored her, her eyes slowly turned red. She forcefully suppressed her feelings of grievance and dissatisfaction, put down the documents, and left the room.

Leaving the Wilder Corporation, Hollis was in a terrible mood.

She had waited for six years, but Donovan still refused to give her an answer. Today, he even revealed his intention to dissolve the engagement.

Fortunately, she could be sure that there were no other women in Donovan's life.

Which meant she still had a chance!

Thinking about this, Hollis's complexion eased slightly.

Yes, she still had a chance.

If Donovan was really annoyed, it would be truly irreparable.

Hollis comforted herself all the way and got into the car.

"Miss, are we going back to the company?" Her assistant Beck Marshall asked cautiously, noticing that Hollis didn't look too good.

Hollis glanced at him. "No, we're going to have lunch outside. We have a signing appointment with the Virus Research Institute in the afternoon. We'll go back after signing the contract."

Beck nodded in agreement.

Two o'clock in the afternoon.

Riley and Deacon set off from the research institute to meet with the herbal medicine merchant they had arranged.

On the way, Riley suddenly realized that she hadn't had a chance to learn about the cooperating merchant. She couldn't help but ask Deacon, "What's the situation with the herbal medicine merchant we're signing with?"

As the head of the research institute, if she knew nothing about the collaborating merchant, they might feel that their attitude was not respectful enough during the signing, which could affect the cooperation between the two parties.

Deacon also understood her concerns and gave her a detailed introduction. "This herbal medicine merchant is quite large in H City. Their family has been in the pharmaceutical business for generations. Additionally, their prices are reasonable. Combined with our institute's influence overseas, they expressed interest in making connections with us and their attitude is quite good. You can rest assured."

Upon hearing this, Riley nodded and felt relieved. "I know about several major herbal medicine merchants in H City. According to your description, the one signing with us today should be one of them. I wonder which one it is?"

Deacon replied, "The Sutton family."
