Chapter 241 Unable to Calm Down for a Long Time
Hollis just wanted to subtly ask if Donovan was here because of Riley.
She had her suspicions but wanted to hear it from Donovan himself.
Unexpectedly, she accidentally crossed the line.
Seeing Donovan's cold expression, Hollis panicked but tried to stay calm. "I spoke out of turn. You must have your reasons for being here."
She then tentatively asked, "So when do you plan to go back? Maybe we can go together?"
Donovan glanced at Paxton.
Paxton respectfully said, "Mr. Wilder, the tickets have been purchased."
Coincidentally, there was only one first-class seat left.
Donovan leisurely got up from the sofa. "Then pack up and get ready to leave."
He stood by the window, looking down at the street below.
If he left now, he might catch up with those two.
He wondered what Riley's reaction would be when she saw him.
Hollis was puzzled.
She had just arrived, and Donovan was already leaving?
Riley clearly had no intention of leaving earlier.
Or maybe Donovan was here for work?
Hollis awkwardly asked, "Are you really leaving now? If you're not in a hurry, maybe we can go together? I'll be done soon, just wait for me."
But Donovan ignored her and coldly said, "The work is done, there's no reason to stay. Since you still have work, go ahead. Don't stay here with me."
As the words faded, Donovan withdrew his gaze from Hollis, declining to meet her eyes again
For an extended moment, Hollis stood frozen at the threshold, struggling to comprehend the situation. Eventually, realizing Donovan's indifference, she clenched her palm tightly and hastily retreated.
Outside, she saw two cleaners opening the door to Riley's room.
Hollis's heart sank, and she quickly walked over. "Where is the guest of this room?"
The cleaner said, "They've checked out."
Checked out?
These words hit Hollis like a thunderclap.
Donovan had also said he was leaving.
She had thought Donovan's departure seemed sudden.
It turned out Riley had gone back!
The answer she had been trying to get from Donovan, she now indirectly got from the cleaner.
Suddenly coming to North City for a business trip, staying in this hotel, coincidentally next to Riley's room, and immediately having Paxton buy a ticket after Riley left.
All because Donovan was following Riley.
A wave of disorientation washed over Hollis, and the shock lingered deep within her. Despite her suspicion earlier, the confirmation was difficult to swallow.
After a while, Hollis finally came to her senses and immediately checked flights back to H City on her phone.
Based on the time Riley and Donovan left the hotel, they must have bought tickets for the next available flight.
However, when she opened the app, the next flight was already sold out.
Seeing the remaining tickets, Hollis's face turned pale, and she angrily put her phone away.
Donovan's door slowly opened, and Donovan came out.
Hollis opened her mouth to say something.
But Donovan glanced in her direction, and as if he didn't see her, quickly looked away indifferently.
Even as they entered the elevator, Hollis couldn't say a word.
