Chapter 291 Tell Me Why
Finley carefully put the medicine on Riley.
Nearby, Donovan said, "Last night, after I changed her dressing, she wanted to bring you the medicine. If I hadn't stopped her, she would've come over."
Riley felt touched and softly thanked Finley. "Thanks, Finley."
Finley looked up and smiled.
The two little ones watched eagerly as Finley finished. Just as they were about to speak, Donovan's voice made them tense up.
Yesterday, they didn't show any emotion towards Donovan because they were worried about Finley.
But now, thinking back, they felt Donovan was partly to blame for Finley getting lost.
He knew Finley didn't like Hollis, yet he let Hollis get close to her.
Their mom didn't want to take Finley along in the first place because of Hollis.
And Hollis had bullied their mom!
It was all Donovan's fault!
Thinking this, the two little ones didn't show any kindness towards Donovan.
Donovan sensed the strange atmosphere. He looked down and saw the fierce expressions of the two little ones, as if he were a monster.
Seeing Donovan look over, the two little ones pursed their lips. "Since Uncle Donovan came with Finley to deliver the medicine, and now Finley has changed mom's dressing, is there nothing else to do?"
Donovan frowned slightly and nodded.
"Then please leave!" The little ones looked up at Donovan, showing surprising authority for their age.
It was the first time Donovan had been told to leave by such young kids. He frowned but didn't respond.
He wasn't sure if it was his imagination, but their hostility seemed stronger today.
Riley noticed their impoliteness and turned to them. "Landon, Winston, be polite."
The two little ones huffed, "We are being polite. We even said please."
Riley felt a headache coming on.
Donovan spoke with a deep voice, "Are you trying to make me leave?"
The two little ones nodded confidently.
Donovan wasn't angry; he patiently asked, "There must be a reason, right? Can you tell me why?"
The two little ones were taken aback.
They exchanged a glance, and Landon, with a stern face, answered, "Because you're going to marry another woman. If you stay with mom too long, it will cause misunderstandings. We don't want mom to get hurt."
The room fell silent.
Donovan's gaze swept over the two little ones and landed on Riley.
There must be something he didn't know that made them say this.
Did Hollis trouble her?
And why were the two little ones so affected by his marriage?
Noticing Donovan's gaze, Riley lowered her eyes to hide her unease.
She didn't know why, but the two little ones had a strong prejudice against Donovan. Their reaction to his marriage was even stronger than hers.
Or was it the bond between father and sons that made them care so much about Donovan?
