Chapter 296 Don't Know the Answer
After leaving the Wilder residence, Hollis's bitterness turned into a cold demeanor.
Beck was waiting in the car. Seeing her upset, he asked cautiously, "Miss Sutton, where to?"
Hollis shot a cold glance at him in the rearview mirror. "To the office."
Beck nodded and was about to drive when Hollis snapped, "Just go home!"
She wasn't in the mood for work or dealing with people.
She had gone to see Catherine, hoping she'd help smooth things over with Donovan after seeing her cry. But it was a wasted trip. Catherine's words were useless.
By the time Donovan calmed down, everyone would know about their broken engagement. She couldn't wait for that!
Thinking of this, Hollis felt a chill. It was all because of that bitch Riley! Ever since Riley came back, Donovan and Finley were all about her. Six years ago, it wasn't like this!
Back then, Donovan ignored Riley because of her. Now, their roles were reversed, and it made her furious. What had changed in six years?
Just as she was fuming, her mom called. Hollis answered with a cold face.
"How did it go? Did you talk to Catherine?" Alice asked immediately.
Hollis's face darkened. "I talked to her, but it was pointless. I might as well figure something out myself!"
Alice was surprised. "What can you do? If Donovan wants to marry Riley, there's nothing we can do."
Hollis gritted her teeth, knowing her mom was right. Compared to the Wilder Group, the Sutton Group was nothing. What power did she have to change Donovan's mind?
"Since Donovan is rejecting you because of Finley, why not start with Finley?" Alice suggested.
A thought flashed through Hollis's mind. Alice, not getting a response, urged, "Hollis?"
Hollis snapped back and coldly said, "I'll talk to you when I get back. I'm hanging up now."
She hung up and instructed Beck, "Go back to the office later and find someone to investigate Riley's past few years. Especially find out about her kids and their father!"
Her mom's words had sparked an idea. She knew Riley had kids but not who their father was. Donovan probably didn't know either.
If she could find the father, Riley wouldn't have time for Donovan. And she doubted Donovan would still like her when there was another man around Riley.
If she couldn't have him, Riley shouldn't either!
Beck glanced at her in the rearview mirror, feeling a chill, and quickly agreed.
