Chapter 202 Should Give Her an Explanation
Donovan took a moment to clear his head before heading to the kindergarten to pick up the kids.
When Donovan arrived, Riley had already picked up the kids.
Finley, used to waiting with her brothers for her dad, now stood alone, holding Zoey's hand timidly.
"Mr. Wilder," Zoey said cautiously, aware of Finley's situation.
Seeing Donovan, she let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Donovan nodded and picked up Finley.
In the car, Finley still seemed upset.
Donovan frowned. "Why are you alone today?"
Finley looked down, and said in a aggrieved voice, "Riley took the boys away."
Donovan's eyes darkened.
Even though Riley kept her distance to him, she had always been soft-hearted towards Finley.
Something must've happened. Maybe Riley had seen the news.
Was she avoiding him because of it?
The thought made Donovan inexplicably annoyed.
The tension around him was palpable.
When he got home and saw his mom, his face darkened even more. "Mom, why are you here?"
Catherine, not wanting to disrupt his work, had waited at the estate for a long time, eager to talk.
Donovan's cold attitude made her more displeased. "So, I'm not welcome? "
Donovan's face turned even darker. "Olivia, take Finley upstairs."
Olivia, sensing the tension, quickly took Finley upstairs.
Finley was reluctant. She heard Catherine mention Riley on her way up. Was her daddy going to marry Riley?
But the news said he was marrying Hollis.
Finley didn't understand, but she thought it would be wonderful if Daddy married Riley!
Donovan sat on the single sofa next to Catherine, expressionless.
"What's with today's news? Aren't you going to explain?" Catherine asked, trying to keep her anger in check.
Donovan looked up at her indifferently, making her feel pressured.
His tone was sarcastic. "You didn't explain how the news about my engagement to Hollis got out, did you? And you never asked for my opinion."
He knew his mom wanted him with Hollis, but he hadn't expected her to be so forceful.
After the news broke, Donovan knew he couldn't stay silent anymore.
Catherine felt a bit guilty but still said, "You've been engaged to Hollis for years; it was bound to happen. I'm just announcing it a little earlier. Besides, you embarrassed Hollis at Daniel's birthday party; we owe her an explanation."
