Chapter 349 Are We Really Going to Live Abroad?

Finley went quiet after Riley's response. Riley got out of the car, gently lifting Finley and guiding her toward the grand entrance of the estate.

Just as she was about to let go of Finley's hand, Finley looked up, her eyes earnest and searching.

Meeting her gaze, Riley's heart softened. She crouched down to look into her eyes. "Finley, is there anything else you want to tell me?" she asked softly.

Finley nodded slightly and said in her sweet, childlike voice, "Don't hate Daddy." She didn't get why Riley disliked Donovan so much, always trying to drive him away whenever they met. But Finley could sense that Donovan was very good to Riley, that he liked Riley. She didn't want Riley to hate her father.

Riley figured they probably wouldn't see each other much in the future, so she nodded in agreement with Finley's wish.

Finley reluctantly hugged Riley again before turning to enter the estate gate. Riley didn't dare to go in, afraid of being discovered by Donovan and the servants. She just stood at the entrance, watching Finley enter the villa before heading back to the car.

Inside the estate, Olivia was arranging dinner when she suddenly heard the doorbell. She quickly came over to open it and was surprised to see Finley standing there alone. She looked around but didn't see anyone else.

"Miss Wilder, school isn't over yet. How did you get here by yourself? Did no one bring you?" Olivia's concern was evident as she welcomed Finley inside, scanning the area for any signs of an adult.

Finley had been putting on a smile for Riley, but now her expression turned solemn again. She shook her head at Olivia's questions and trudged upstairs with her short, stubby legs.

Olivia watched Finley's back with concern. After thinking it over, she decided to call Donovan.

Meanwhile, Riley returned to the car, feeling very conflicted. She sat in the car in a daze for a while before slowly starting the car and heading home.

When she walked through the door, her own two kids were waiting anxiously on the sofa. They jumped up as soon as they saw her. "Mommy, did Finley get home okay?" they asked in unison.

Mentioning Finley brought a wave of bitterness to Riley's heart. She forced a smile and nodded to them.

Winston followed her, asking, "Did Finley cry on the way? She was crying so sadly earlier."

Riley patted his head and replied, "No, Finley was very brave."

Hearing this seemed to ease her kids' worries a bit, but their eyes still held a curious gaze. Riley frowned slightly, sensing something was on their minds. "What's wrong?"

"Mommy, are we really going to live abroad?" Winston asked in confusion. They had never known about this before and thought they would settle down domestically. But Riley suddenly mentioned this, and they wondered if there was another reason behind it. Like Donovan.

Riley sighed, nodding slightly. She had originally planned to settle down here and create a stable life for her family.

But running into Donovan again had thrown everything into chaos. His unexpected change in attitude, his determined interest in her—it was too much. She needed a fresh start, away from him, to protect her kids and herself.
