Chapter 376 Smiling Without Speaking
When Mia heard Hollis's response, she looked a bit confused. Was Hollis cooking up some other plan? Mia cautiously asked, "Hollis, are you saying there's another way to handle Riley?"
Hollis was getting pretty fed up with Mia. Even if she had another plan, she wouldn't spill the beans to Mia, who was more of a nuisance than anything else.
But thinking Mia might still come in handy later, Hollis put on a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, I won't let that bitch get away with it. Honestly, if it weren't for her, you wouldn't have been chewed out by your grandpa and Dalton. Just to vent your anger, I can't let her off easy!"
With just a few words, Hollis shifted the blame for Mia's being scolded onto Riley.
Mia, totally buying it, nodded angrily. "Ever since Riley showed up, my grandpa and Dalton have been giving me a hard time. I'm their family, but they always side with her. She definitely needs to be taught a lesson!"
Seeing her plan working, Hollis squinted in satisfaction and patted Mia's hand. "Don't forget, we're not the only ones who hate Riley."
Mia was momentarily stunned but quickly got it. She almost forgot the whole scheme against Riley was Catherine's idea. With Catherine in the mix, how could Riley possibly escape?
Plus, Catherine's beef with Riley was also because of Hollis. Everyone knew how much Catherine adored Hollis. Now, with Riley suddenly in the picture, there was no way Catherine would let her take Hollis's place.
And six years ago, Riley left a divorce agreement and vanished, practically telling the whole business world she dumped Donovan, not the other way around. That was a huge slap in the face for the Wilder family. Catherine could never forgive her for that!
The more Mia thought about it, the more excited she got, forgetting all about being scolded earlier. She smiled at Hollis. "Hollis, Mrs. Wilder has always liked you. This time, her actions against Riley must be for your sake."
Hollis felt proud but put on a fake frown. "What does it have to do with me? That bitch brought it on herself."
Mia glanced at her injured arm and hinted, "If it really had nothing to do with you, Riley's been back for a while, and Mrs. Wilder hasn't done anything to her. But as soon as you got hurt, Mrs. Wilder took action. Isn't it because Riley caused your arm to get injured again?"
Hollis looked at her arm and smiled without saying a word. If she hadn't been so ruthless with herself, who knew how long Catherine would have tolerated Riley. Her injury had forced Catherine to take a stand.
Mia's face was full of flattery. She continued, "Mrs. Wilder likes you so much. If Riley bullies you, she'll definitely stand up for you. After all, you're her future daughter-in-law!"
Hollis smirked. "Whether I'm the daughter-in-law or not is up to Donovan."
Mia didn't care. She replied, "Mrs. Wilder is on your side. Once she drives Riley away, who else will Donovan have but you? By then, who else would he marry but you? Just wait to become his wife!"
What Mia said made sense, and Hollis felt a wave of satisfaction, but she just smiled without saying a word.
