Chapter 90 Meeting the Right One to Marry
Hollis always paid attention to Donovan's expression. Seeing him subconsciously glance at Riley when this topic came up, a wave of jealousy burned in her heart.
"This matter is not urgent." Donovan's gaze locked onto Riley's face across from him.
Donovan wanted to see if Riley would remain calm after hearing such an answer!
Hearing this, Riley was first stunned but quickly understood.
Indeed, although Donovan and Hollis were not yet married, it was only a matter of time. So, there was nothing for her to be surprised about.
Realizing this, Riley lowered her eyes again and casually picked up her utensils as if the previous confrontation had nothing to do with her.
Hollis was surprised to hear such a response, feeling somewhat strange.
The last time Hollis talked to Donovan about marriage, Donovan clearly had a different attitude, but now there was a sudden change.
Mr. Benedict Senior was obviously not very satisfied with Donovan's response, frowning and was about to urge further.
Seeing this, Hollis quickly spoke up, "Exactly, I'm not going anywhere. Grandpa Benedict, please don't push us. We're doing fine now. Donovan took the time to visit you, so let's not bring up our matters today. Let's talk about something that makes you happy."
If this continued, Hollis feared that Donovan might change his attitude again and publicly mention breaking off their engagement.
If so, she would be embarrassed in from of Riley!
Dalton noticed that Hollis didn't want to discuss this topic and jokingly chimed in, "Donovan has always been like this, devoted to his work. Grandpa Benedict, just let it be. Donovan has his plans."
Mr. Benedict Senior frowned, "Work is important, but marriage cannot be put off indefinitely like this. Finley has grown up without a mother to care for her. I'm concerned!"
Hollis quickly mumbled a couple of vague responses.
Riley thought of Finley and felt a pang of sympathy.
No wonder Finley always ran to Riley. It turned out there was no mother at home to take care of her.
Just as Riley was lost in thought, she suddenly heard her name being mentioned by Mr. Benedict Senior.
"And Dr. Monroe? Are you married?"
Startled, Riley snapped back to attention, paused for a moment, then replied, "Not yet."
Mr. Benedict Senior looked her over approvingly and suggested with a smile, "How about Dalton? Have you considered him?"
After several treatments, Mr. Benedict Senior had a great appreciation for Riley.
If she could join the family as a daughter-in-law, it would be perfect.
Riley was caught off guard by this suggestion, her mouth agape, unsure how to respond.
On the side, Mia glanced disdainfully at Riley. "Grandpa Benedict, don't make random pairings. Even if Dr. Monroe is outstanding, she already has children, and they are still young. With my brother Dalton's conditions, do you want him to marry someone who is divorced with children? I won't agree with that."
Mr. Benedict Senior was surprised. "Is that so? I didn't know."
Riley admitted frankly, "I have been divorced before, so that I won't burden Mr. Dalton."
Seeing Riley say this, Mr. Benedict Senior frowned disapprovingly, "What's wrong with being divorced? You are so outstanding. I'm sure you have a lot of suitors. If you two really have feelings, I would definitely approve too!"
Riley smiled gratefully. "Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Benedict Senior, but Mr. Dalton and I are indeed not suitable. I will see if there is anyone suitable."
Mr. Benedict Senior nodded. "It must be hard for a woman to raise children alone. You can marry when you meet the right one."
Riley nodded obediently.
Donovan sat opposite, hearing the conversations between Riley and Mr. Benedict Senior, his eyes gradually darkening.
