Chapter 381 Continue Working at the Benedict Group

Riley tossed her phone aside and stared at the institute's latest herb consumption report, feeling a dull ache in her temples.

Yesterday, she had this idea to use her connections at the Benedict Group to get Dalton to hook her up with a few more herb suppliers.

But today, the Benedict Group had already done them a solid. If she asked for more, it'd look like she was pushing her luck. She hesitated on the call for ages but ended up saying nothing.

For now, she'd have to reach out to some of the old-timers she met at the last conference. Maybe one of them could lend a hand.

Riley was wiped out from yesterday and, combined with a crappy night's sleep, she felt a wave of frustration as she scrolled through her contacts.

The institute had been doing great, even knocking out some major projects under her lead. But overnight, it was back to square one, maybe even worse. And it was all thanks to Catherine.

Thinking about it made Riley's blood boil. She hadn't done anything wrong, so why was Catherine gunning for her? Her anger peaked after a bunch of dead-end phone calls.

Riley rubbed her temples, feeling utterly helpless.

Meanwhile, Mia was fuming. It was bad enough that Daniel had chewed her out, but now he was keeping her out of Benedict Group's business.

She had vented to Hollis, but the more she thought about it, the angrier she got, and she barely slept a wink.

First thing in the morning, after a quick breakfast, she rushed to the Benedict Group. She didn't dare confront Daniel, but she could still talk to Dalton.

Dalton had just hung up from Riley's call when he heard a ruckus outside.

His assistant said, "Ms. Benedict, Mr. Benedict is busy. If you don't have an appointment..."

A familiar voice cut through, "Get off me! What's wrong with me wanting to see Dalton?"

It was Mia. What was she doing here?

Dalton got up, feeling a headache coming on, opened the office door, and told his assistant, "You can go."

He shot Mia a look and then walked back into his office without a word.

Mia followed him in, plopping down on the sofa and looking around like she owned the place.

Even though Dalton had scolded her yesterday, he still cared about her. Despite his stern look, he poured her some coffee and sat across from her. "Alright, what's up this early?"

Mia took the coffee with a smile but then pouted, feeling a bit rebellious. "Can't I come over just because? I'm part of the Benedict family too!"

Dalton sighed, "You never showed up this early when you were working."

Mia went quiet for a moment, sipping her coffee to hide her guilt.

Dalton saw right through her but didn't say anything. He grabbed some documents and sat on the single sofa next to her, waiting for her to spill.

After a bit, Mia finally said, "Dalton, can you talk to Grandpa and get him to let me continue working at the Benedict Group?"

Dalton paused, his expression darkening. "Give me a reason," he said flatly.

Seeing his serious look, Mia felt a surge of annoyance. She had already swallowed her pride, and he was still acting like she'd done something terrible!
