Chapter 419 Properly Thank Him
The driver in the car across the street felt the air pressure drop inside his ride, and his hands got all sweaty.
After what felt like forever, Donovan finally tore his eyes away from the hotel entrance and said coldly, "Head back."
The driver nodded, started the car slowly, and drove towards the hotel where Donovan was staying.
Meanwhile, Riley had no clue Donovan was around and
hopped into the passenger seat of Adam's car.
As soon as she got in, Riley took off her coat and tossed it onto the back seat.
Adam asked for the hotel address and started the car.
They drove in silence for a while. Riley stared out the window, lost in her thoughts.
Donovan's attitude earlier had really thrown her off.
"You just left like that, what about Mr. Wilder?" Adam suddenly asked.
Riley snapped out of her daze and frowned, "What does my leaving have to do with him?"
Adam glanced at her in the rearview mirror, "Mr. Wilder brought you here, right?"
Even though Riley had said they just bumped into each other downstairs, Adam had a pretty good idea of the truth since Riley hadn't driven herself.
Riley was stunned for a moment. She turned and met Adam's knowing gaze.
Their eyes met, and Riley smiled, a bit helpless, "Yeah, but we just happened to meet at the styling place. It's not what you think."
Adam nodded, "Does Mr. Wilder know you left?"
Riley thought about it. Donovan had left even earlier than she did, so how could he know when she left the banquet?
"No idea," she replied shortly, then quickly changed the subject, "By the way, Adam, what are you doing here?"
Adam knew she didn't want to talk about it anymore, so he let it go and smiled, "Mr. Rogers sent me an invite. I wasn't planning to come, but I knew Mr. Powell was in S City and would probably be here, so I came over. Didn't expect to run into you."
Riley nodded absentmindedly.
"How's everything at your research institute?" Adam asked.
Riley replied, "I came here for the research institute. Mr. Rogers has a branch in H City that can work with us. We've agreed to sign the contract tomorrow. Once it's signed, I'll head back."
Adam frowned a bit, "How did you get in touch with Mr. Rogers?"
As far as he knew, Riley had been looking for partners in H City. Harold was in S City, so how did they connect? Plus, Harold seemed to think highly of Riley.
Riley explained, "Mr. Benedict helped introduce us. I really need to thank him."
Hearing that Dalton made the introduction, Adam nodded, "The Benedict Group and the Rogers Group do have a good relationship. But the Benedict Group seems to have an even better relationship with the Wilder Group. By helping you connect with the Rogers Group, Mr. Benedict is basically going against the Wilder Group. If Aunt Catherine finds out, this won't end well."
Riley frowned, worried for Dalton too.
Even though Dalton had said the Wilder Group wouldn't notice, they both knew there was still a risk.
But since she had come this far, Riley didn't want to give up.
After all, Catherine's goal was just to get Riley out of the way. As long as she sorted out the research institute's issues and left H City, Catherine probably wouldn't cause trouble for others.
