Chapter 438 Take Good Care of Finley
Back from the Benedict Estate, Riley found Landon and Winston slumped on the couch, looking all kinds of lost.
Usually, they'd be all over her when she walked in, so Riley shot Sophie a confused look.
Sophie sighed, "They've been like this since I picked them up."
Landon and Winston had been hanging out with Finley, but when Sophie showed up, none of the kids even cracked a smile.
On the way back, Landon and Winston were super down, and they still hadn't snapped out of it.
Riley had been all excited about the Jones family's free clinic, but seeing her boys like this, her excitement turned into worry.
"What happened today? Did you guys have a fight with your friends?" Riley asked gently, sitting down next to them.
Hearing her voice, Landon and Winston looked up at her, their little faces full of disappointment.
Seeing their expressions, Riley's heart ached. "What happened? Tell Mommy."
Winston asked softly, "Mommy, why didn't you pick us up tonight?"
Landon just looked at her with pursed lips.
Riley was taken aback, "Mommy had something to take care of tonight. The trouble at the lab last time got sorted out with someone's help, and Mommy had to go thank them."
After saying that, she hesitated and asked, "Are you upset because Mommy didn't pick you up?"
Landon and Winston nodded.
Riley had rarely dropped them off today, and they thought she would pick them up in the evening too.
Not just them, Finley thought so too and had been looking forward to it all day.
But when Sophie arrived to pick them up, Finley's eyes even welled up with tears.
Seeing Finley's reaction, Landon and Winston couldn't be happy either.
They always knew Finley liked Riley. Recently, Riley had been avoiding Finley. Although Finley still played with them in kindergarten, they could tell Finley wasn't happy.
They noticed how reluctant Finley was to part with Riley in the morning; in the evening, they shared Finley's disappointment.
Riley didn't quite understand why Landon and Winston were so down.
She had been busy with work recently, and it was always Sophie and Harper who picked up them. They hadn't acted like this before.
"Mommy, now that the lab issue is resolved, are we going abroad soon?" Winston asked cautiously.
He still remembered Riley saying that once her work in the country was done, they would go abroad.
Then they wouldn't see Finley anymore, and Finley wouldn't see Riley either.
Thinking of this, Winston lowered his head sadly.
Hearing Winston mention going abroad, Riley vaguely understood. She patted his head reassuringly, "Not for now. The trip abroad will be delayed for a while."
Upon hearing this, their eyes lit up as they asked, "Really? Why?"
Riley smiled, "Mommy has other things to do, so we'll stay in the country for a while. You need to take care of Finley in kindergarten."
Landon and Winston nodded vigorously, and the disappointment on their faces vanished.
As long as they stayed in the country, Finley would definitely see Riley again!
