Chapter 277 Can't Stop Worrying

Leaving the hotel, Donovan headed toward the mountains and called Paxton.

"Keep an eye out; Riley went into the mountains."

Paxton aknowledged the update, impressed by Riley's dedication to finding Finley. It was late, and she had ventured into the forest alone.

After hanging up, Donovan heard a timid voice behind him.

"Donovan, any news about Finley?"

Hollis, too scared to go into the thick forest, had returned to the hotel and bumped into Donovan at the entrance, feeling guilty.

Donovan pocketed his phone and gave her a cold, steely look.

Hollis, still in her red dress, looked untouched by the search, just slightly out of breath—maybe from fear of him.

Meeting Donovan's cold gaze, Hollis's heart skipped a beat, her tone growing increasingly guilty. "I searched all afternoon and found nothing. How about you?"

"Finley went missing looking for Riley. Did you tell Riley that?" Donovan ignored her question.

Hollis's face stiffened with panic.

How did Donovan know?

Seeing her expression, Donovan's anger flared. "You better hope nothing happens to them, or our friendship is over."

He moved to walk past her.

Hollis, panicking, grabbed his sleeve. "Donovan, I didn't mean to. She came to the hotel, and I just shared my guess. I didn't mean to blame her."

Donovan turned, his aura icy. "Blame her? What does this have to do with her? You told my mom, made her worry, and then lied to provoke Riley. What were you thinking?"

"I didn't. It's my fault. I didn't take good care of Finley..." Hollis struggled to defend herself.

"It is your fault!" Donovan shook off her hand. "If you're not going to help, go back! Don't waste my time!"

He walked away without looking back.

Paxton and his men were almost conducting a carpet search in the mountains.

By 10 PM, they still hadn't found any trace of Finley or Riley.

Donovan joined them, his face even colder upon hearing the news.

Paxton stood beside Donovan, feeling the pressure and worry.

It was late, and Riley and Finley, a woman and a child, were still in the mountains.  Anyone would be worried.

"Mr. Wilder, you should rest. You've been at it all day," Paxton cautiously suggested.

For the first time, he saw Donovan looking so disheveled.

Donovan, still bearing the soil from the morning's tree planting, had spent the entire night searching. He looked weary but determined.

Donovan frowned and refused, "We'll split up and search."

He turned to head deeper into the forest.
