Chapter 216 Be Nice to the Boys
Donovan frowned, thinking about Riley.
How had she got Finley to start talking?
Now, facing the same issue, Donovan felt pretty helpless.
"You really want to see Riley?" Donovan noticed Finley only responded to Riley, so he tried asking again.
As soon as he finished, Finley nodded vigorously, looking up at him with hopeful eyes, expecting him to have a way to let her see Riley.
Meeting Finley's expectant gaze, Donovan's eyes darkened slightly, and shifted away in silence. "She likes you a lot. Maybe she's been busy with work and hasn't had time to pick up the boys. Don't worry."
Not getting the answer she wanted, Finley lowered her head in disappointment, even her nod seemed listless.
No matter what Donovan said, Finley's responses were limited to nodding or shaking her head, or she'd fumble in her bag for a small notebook to write for him.
Only when Riley was mentioned did Finley show a more noticeable reaction.
The more Donovan tried to guide her, the more powerless he felt.
After a while, he asked, "Why were you willing to talk at Riley's house? Can you tell Daddy? How did Riley teach you?"
This question couldn't be answered with a nod or shake of the head, and Finley frowned, looking troubled.
The more she thought about her previous life at Riley's house, the more aggravated she became.
She wanted to stay with Riley a little longer.
Donovan took out paper and a pen, handing them to Finley. "If you don't want to talk, write it down for Daddy."
He couldn't let Finley remain silent like this. Given his current relationship with Riley, it wasn't possible to send Finley back to her, so he had to see if he could borrow some of Riley's methods.
Finley took the paper and pen and slowly wrote a sentence. "If I don't talk, the boys won't play with me."
Seeing what Finley wrote, Donovan's eyes flashed with surprise.
So, the direct reason for Finley speaking was actually Landon and Winston?
He had thought it was because Finley liked Riley and felt more relaxed around her, gradually starting to talk.
But he hadn't expected Landon and Winston to play such a significant role.
"You really like those two boys?" Donovan asked with a furrowed brow.
Finley nodded vigorously.
The first time they met, Landon and Winston had been very nice to her, and they had even protected her in kindergarten.
With them around, no other kids dared to bully her. She was practically the little princess of the kindergarten now!
Talking about Landon and Winston made Finley's eyes light up.
Seeing Finley's face, Donovan felt a mix of emotions.
However, it was much easier to get Finley more in touch with those two boys than it was to send her to Riley's to recover.
Thinking of this, Donovan felt relieved and solemnly instructed, "Since you like them so much, have Olivia prepare more snacks for you to share with the boys when you go to kindergarten."
Finley tilted her head, not quite understanding what her daddy meant.
Donovan patted Finley's head. "The boys take good care of you, so you should be nice to them too. Play with them more."
Thinking about how the boys had treated her recently, Finley quickly nodded.
She also wanted to be nice to the boys so they would play with her!
