Chapter 432 It Will Cause Me Trouble
Riley reached out to grab Finley's schoolbag, but Donovan yanked it back without a word and started walking ahead. "Let's go," he said.
Riley's hand grasped at thin air, and the kids beside her tugged on her sleeve, snapping her back to reality. She took their hands and followed Donovan.
At the kindergarten entrance, Zoey was already waiting.
Seeing them approach, Zoey smiled and greeted Riley, "Ms. Monroe, long time no see."
Lately, it was either Sophie or Harper who brought Landon and Winston, so it had indeed been a while since Riley had come.
"Yeah, it's been a while," Riley replied with a smile. "How are my kids doing in school?"
Zoey waved her hand dismissively. "They're the best-behaved kids in the class. No worries."
Hearing that, Riley felt relieved and handed the kids over to Zoey.
However, Finley clung to her hand, reluctant to let go.
She hadn't seen Riley in a long time, so she didn't want to say goodbye so soon.
Seeing Finley's reluctance, Riley felt even more torn.
But it was almost time for class, and she had to get to work. Despite her reluctance, she had to let go of Finley's hand.
"Be good, Finley. I have to go to work. You play with Landon and Winston, okay?"
Finley pouted, looking very unhappy.
Seeing this, Landon and Winston quickly stepped forward, holding Finley's hand and comforting her, "We'll play with you. Don't be sad."
Finley looked at Riley longingly, wanting to ask if she could stay, but afraid of hearing a no. After hesitating for a long time, she didn't dare to ask.
Finley wouldn't go in, and Riley couldn't bear to leave.
Just when she didn't know what to do, Donovan quietly stepped between her and Finley, blocking Finley's view.
"It's time for class. Daddy and Riley have to go to work. You go in with Landon and Winston." Donovan bent down to put the little schoolbag on Finley, firmly pressing her shoulders and turning her in the right direction.
Only then did Finley slowly follow Landon and Winston into the kindergarten.
Watching their backs, Riley sighed silently, forced a smile, said goodbye to Zoey, and turned to walk towards her car.
After taking just a few steps, Donovan's deep voice sounded behind her, "How are you feeling?"
He had agreed to bring Finley to see Riley to check on Riley's recovery, but he hadn't had a chance to talk to her.
Hearing his concern, Riley was stunned for a few seconds, feeling a bit strange.
Donovan didn't wait for her answer, his eyes darkening. Just as he was about to say something else, he saw Riley glance back at him.
"Much better, thank you for your concern, Mr. Wilder." Riley looked at Donovan with detachment, hesitated for a moment, and said calmly, "Also, I hope Mr. Wilder will try not to bring Finley to my place in the future. It causes me inconvenience."
She couldn't say this to Finley, but she could say it to Donovan.
Donovan's face darkened instantly, glaring at her with displeasure. "You should tell that to Finley, Ms. Monroe. You know how she is. If she throws a tantrum, I have to go along with her."
With that, he didn't wait for Riley's response and directly opened the car door and got in.
