Chapter 426 Afraid of Repeating the Same Mistake
Riley saw Landon heading towards Donovan, frowned, and called out, "Landon, come back here."
Hearing Riley, Landon nodded. After taking one last look at Donovan, he turned around and followed Riley into the house.
Harper, full of concern, helped Riley inside. "Is it really airsickness? You've never had this problem before."
They'd known each other for years, and this was the first time Harper had seen Riley get airsick, and it was pretty bad.
Riley thought of Landon and Winston beside her, not wanting to scare them, and nodded lightly. "I wasn't feeling well today."
Harper didn't push further and helped her into the villa.
At the villa entrance, Donovan's eyes darkened as he watched them walk away.
"Ms. Monroe, Mr. Wilder is still outside." Noticing Riley's weakened state, Sophie emerged from the kitchen and saw Donovan still standing in the yard.
Riley frowned slightly and said without looking back, "Close the door."
She didn't want to deal with Donovan anymore.
Sophie, not knowing what was going on between them, had always thought they had a good relationship. Every time she saw them together, Donovan was very attentive to Riley.
She even thought they might end up together.
Seeing Riley's cold attitude now, she just assumed they had a falling out.
Sophie gave an apologetic look to Donovan in the yard and then closed the villa door.
Seeing the door close, Donovan finally turned around, got into the car, and told Paxton to head back to the Wilder Estate.
By now, Finley should already be home.
Inside the villa, Sophie helped Harper support Riley back to the bedroom. Landon and Winston brought hot water and gathered around the bed, looking worried.
Riley smiled to comfort them, "Mommy's fine. I just need to rest for a while. You two go play."
They exchanged a glance, still a bit worried.
Riley added, "Don't worry about me. Harper is here to take care of me."
She signaled to Sophie, and they reluctantly left the bedroom with her.
Once the door closed, Harper's expression turned serious. She looked at Riley. "What's going on? You were fine at the banquet last night, and now you're like this. And how did Donovan just happen to be with you?"
Riley, still not fully recovered, felt a bit helpless under Harper's questioning, "It was really just a coincidence. There was a small incident on the plane, and I got a bit scared, that's all. Please don't tell Landon and Winston; I don't want them to worry."
Harper stared at her for a while, her suspicion turning into concern. "Got it. I know how to handle this. But you and Donovan..."
Harper had seen everything between the two of them.
Six years ago, Riley had left because of Donovan's coldness.
But now that she was back, Donovan's attitude had completely changed. He was always around Riley and much more attentive.
Donovan's change in attitude puzzled Harper, and she feared Riley might go through the same thing again.
