Chapter 75 Hug
Finley’s big eyes blinked as her sobbing gradually stopped, though she was still skeptical.
After all, she heard what her father told the teacher, and somehow, Landon and Winston just ‘coincidentally’ took leave today?
Seeing her doubts, Donovan could only sigh helplessly and explain, “Why would I lie to you? They didn't go to school today because they're sick. You'll see them tomorrow.”
Finley pouted, still looking at him suspiciously.
At his wits’ end, Donovan could only say, “What do I have to do for you to believe me?”
He couldn’t believe just how highly Finley valued Landon and Winston, so much so that she would doubt him because of them.
After some hesitation, Finley gestured for Auntie to put her down. She dug out the notebook and pen from the pile of mess and started writing while sobbing, the words wobbly and difficult to read.
It read: [Confirmation!]
She needed to hear from Landon and Winston that they were not expelled, and they would still see each other in school!
Donovan immediately understood that Finley wanted to visit Riley’s house to hear it from them, and he felt a headache coming.
Finley noticed that Donovan hadn't responded for a while; her mouth pouted as if she was on the verge of crying, her little hands clutching the notebook tightly.
Donovan thought about how Finley had cried earlier, pressed his temples helplessly, and replied in a deep voice, "Okay, Daddy will take you to find them now."
Finley instantly stopped the momentum and blinked to confirm with him.
Donovan nodded.
Seeing this, Finley immediately turned around and neatly packed up his small backpack, carrying it on his back, and walked up to him proactively. Because he had cried so hard just now, he was still slightly sobbing.
Donovan, seeing the little one's attitude change so quickly, felt even more helpless. He took Finley to find Riley.
Riley was having dinner with two little ones when suddenly the doorbell rang. Thinking it was Harper coming over for a meal, she went directly to open the door.
Seeing the person at the door, she couldn't help but be stunned.
"Did Finley come to play with Landon and Winston?"
That was the only possibility she could think of.
At the door, Donovan stood tall, wearing only a shirt on his upper body, sleeves slightly rolled up, holding Finley's hand.
Finley tilted her head back, her eyes and nose red, whether from the wind or something else, looking very aggrieved.
Seeing Riley looking at them, Finley felt all the grievances of the night rush to her heart, sniffed, pouted, and felt like crying again.
Donovan noticed his daughter's unease; faced with Riley's question, he was momentarily at a loss for words.
What could Donovan say? Should he say that Finley was angry with me for getting her son expelled from school, and now she must come to confirm why they are not going to school?
Since Donovan had already dismissed this idea, why bring it up?
For a moment, there was a somewhat awkward atmosphere at the door.
Riley looked at the pair in front of her, both seemingly reluctant to speak, a bit puzzled, and could only lower her head to look at Finley, "Finley, what's the matter so late?"
Finley pouted and nodded, then forcefully broke free from Donovan's hand.
Donovan could only let her go.
The next moment, tears welled up in Finley's eyes again. She walked a few steps towards Riley with a look of grievance and stretched out her arms, wanting a hug.
