Chapter 424 As If Intimately Close
Donovan saw right through her act almost instantly. When he noticed Riley about to fall, he instinctively reached out to catch her.
Riley's hand landed on his arm.
Neither of them moved.
Realizing her cover was blown, Riley awkwardly held onto Donovan's arm, lowered her head for a moment, then slowly straightened up, and casually apologized, "Sorry, I just... lost my balance."
She tried to pull her hand away.
Donovan sensed her move, his eyes darkening a bit. Before she could pull back, he firmly pressed her hand back onto his arm.
Riley frowned slightly.
Donovan frowned and said, "You don't have to act tough with me." He kept his face steady as he put an arm around her waist to support her.
Riley immediately felt much lighter.
But the next second, she held back and tried to distance herself from his arm.
The posture was too intimate, especially with so many people at the airport.
"I think it's easier to just pick you up," Donovan's deep voice sounded.
Hearing this, Riley was stunned, turning her head in disbelief to meet Donovan's gaze.
Donovan stared at her, as if to say that if she kept avoiding him, he'd just pick her up and carry her out of the airport.
They stood in a stalemate for a few seconds. Riley gritted her teeth, looked away, and silently relaxed her body, leaning against Donovan's arm.
Donovan carefully supported her, walking slowly towards the airport exit.
Once outside the airport, Riley struggled a bit, "Thank you, Mr. Wilder. I'm fine now, you can let go of me."
But Donovan didn't release her. "I'll take you home."
Riley refused without hesitation, "No need, I'll just take a cab."
She didn't want Landon and Winston to see her with Donovan and get the wrong idea.
However, the current situation was clearly not up to her.
She was so exhausted that she didn't even have the strength to break free from Donovan's grip.
As long as Donovan said no, she had no choice but to comply.
And Donovan indeed didn't comply with her wishes, almost forcing her to the parking lot.
Paxton was already waiting in the parking lot.
Seeing them appear together, he looked a bit puzzled but quickly understood by seeing the scene.
No wonder Donovan insisted on going himself for something that wasn't that serious and stayed for so long.
Paxton opened the car door for them to get in, then returned to the driver's seat, smiling as he asked, "Mr. Wilder, should we take Ms. Monroe home first?"
Donovan replied coldly, "Yes."
Hearing Paxton's natural question, Riley couldn't help but frown, feeling a bit strange.
Paxton's tone made it seem like she and Donovan were very close.
Riley leaned against the door as the car slowly started moving, trying to regain some strength.
Near the entrance to the villa area, Riley finally broke the silence in the car, "Please drop me off here, I'll walk back myself."
She really didn't want Landon and Winston to see her with Donovan again.
Paxton immediately looked at Donovan's reaction in the rearview mirror.
Seeing Donovan's expressionless face, Paxton got the message and kept driving all the way to Riley's house.
