Chapter 60 That Man Deserved to Die
Donovan stared blankly at the two children accusing him, his brow furrowing.
Clearly, it was these two children who were accusing him.
However, for some reason, seeing the two children like this, he felt uncomfortable in his heart, even a bit inexplicably guilty.
Holding Finley in her arms, Riley was surprised to hear her two children say such things. But then, her heart started to ache.
Thankfully, the two children didn't know that the man in front of them was their biological father.
If they did, they would probably be even more upset.
Donovan stayed silent for a long time, sadly avoiding eye contact with the two children. "I'm sorry, I didn't see you as bad people, I just thought...since your mom already have her own lives, it's not really appropriate to have contact with her ex-husband. If your father found out, he would feel uncomfortable."
Upon hearing this, Riley and the two children were stunned.
The two children exchanged surprised glances and belatedly remembered that their father didn't know about their relationship.
Winston denied, "It's okay, we don't have a father!"
Riley was shocked by the words of the two children, and when she heard her youngest son say this, her heart skipped a beat. She wanted to stop him, but it was already too late.
She could only anxiously wait for Donovan's reaction.
Confusion gradually appeared in the man's eyes. The children's words resonated with the photo he had just seen, and no matter how he thought about it, it felt strange.
"Where is your father? What do you mean by not having a father?" he couldn't help but ask.
Winston looked at the man in front of him, a face filled with perplexity, and hinted, "Our father didn't want us. He abandoned our mommy and didn't like us. We've always relied on mommy, and we've never seen him."
Upon hearing the child's response, Donovan's brow furrowed, and his eyes stared fixedly at Riley, his emotions surging within.
All these years, it turned out that this woman had been raising the two children on her own.
He couldn't imagine how they had managed to get through all these years.
And this woman's career overseas was still so impressive.
How much hardship had she endured to achieve that level?
That man actually abandoned them! He deserved to die!
Riley noticed the strong emotions in the man's gaze and even guessed what he was going to say next.
Before he could speak, Riley slightly closed his eyes, concealing all the emotions in his eyes, and casually interrupted their conversation, "Alright, Finley has stopped crying. It's time for you to go back, and I need to go to work too."
After finishing, he released the little girl in his arms, touched her head gently, and spoke softly, "Be good and go back with your father. Come and play with Landon and Winston next time."
Upon hearing her promise, Finley's face, which had just been crying, smiled. She nodded obediently and walked back to her father.
Donovan's gaze darkened slightly, realizing that she didn't want to discuss the topic just now, so he didn't press further.
Seeing Finley, with her red eyes, walking over, he silently touched the top of the little girl's head and softened his tone. "Goodbye, auntie."
Finley raised her hand and waved to Riley and the two children.
The three of them waved back.
Finally, Donovan nodded slightly at Riley, "I'll take her back first."
Without waiting for Riley's response, he turned and left with Finley.
