Chapter 373 Think of Another Way
Back upstairs, Daniel plopped into his chair with a sigh. "Keep an eye on Mia from now on. She's got a knack for getting into trouble, and I don't want her doing something dumb again."
Dalton nodded quickly. "Got it, don't worry."
"And don't let Mia's words get to you. We'll keep supplying Dr. Monroe with the herbs like always. If the Wilder Group causes any issues, I'll handle it," Daniel said seriously. "The Benedict Group has always kept its word, and we can't let this mess change that."
Dalton nodded again. "I'll call Dr. Monroe right now and explain everything."
Daniel waved him off. "Go ahead. I'm beat."
Daniel was pretty worn out from all the drama Mia had stirred up. Now that things were sorted, he felt the exhaustion hit him.
Dalton helped Daniel to bed before stepping out to call Riley.
Meanwhile, Riley was in her office, feeling pretty down. As it got darker outside, she still hadn't heard anything from the Benedict Group. She started to wonder if, like Deacon had suggested, their investigation was just a cover. If that was the case, she'd need to find herbal suppliers in the neighboring city.
Even though it would take longer to get the herbs from another city, she didn't have much choice. Maybe the suppliers there hadn't heard from the Wilder Group yet.
With these thoughts swirling, Riley hesitated and pulled out her phone, thinking about calling a senior she met at the last academic conference.
Just as she took out her phone, it buzzed and rang. Riley paused, frowned, and checked the caller ID. Seeing the name, her eyes lit up, and she quickly answered, "Hello! Mr. Benedict."
On the other end, Dalton sounded apologetic. "Dr. Monroe, we've sorted everything out. There was a misunderstanding, but it's all cleared up now. The Benedict Group's herbs will be delivered to your research institute tomorrow morning, right on time."
Riley let out a long sigh of relief, feeling the weight lift off her shoulders. She frowned a bit. "Can you tell me what the misunderstanding was?"
Dalton was quiet for a few seconds before saying, "It's an internal matter of the Benedict Group, not something we can share. But don't worry, it won't happen again."
Since Dalton couldn't say more, Riley didn't push it and nodded. "Thank you."
Dalton smiled. "It's our duty. If you ever need herbs urgently, you can count on the Benedict Group. We won't let you down."
Riley thanked him, and after a few more polite exchanges, they ended the call.
Just then, someone knocked on Riley's office door. Deacon walked in, having waited all day without any news from the Benedict Group, and came to check on Riley.
"Dr. Monroe, any news from the Benedict Group?" he asked, noticing the faint smile on Riley's face.
"They just called. The herbs will be delivered tomorrow morning," Riley said with a smile.
Deacon had already guessed from her expression. Hearing this, he smiled too. "I knew it; the Benedict Group wouldn't let us down."
But then Deacon's smile faded. "However, right now, only the Benedict Group is working with our research institute. That might not be enough."
As the research institute grew, the herb supply from the Benedict Group alone couldn't keep up with their needs.
Riley's smile faded too. She sighed. "At least the Benedict Group's herbs solve our immediate problem. We'll figure out the rest later."
