Chapter 380 Is This Batch of Medicinal Herbs Enough?

After all, Barry was from the Benedict Group. Since Dalton had handed this task to him, it was clear Barry was one of Dalton's trusted guys. Riley wasn't about to give him a hard time. Her earlier comments were just a heads-up that their research institute wasn't to be taken lightly, and he should take them seriously moving forward.

Barry got the hint, let out a big breath, and shook Riley's hand, nodding like crazy. "Absolutely, absolutely!"

Riley gave a polite smile. "Alright then, here's to a successful partnership."

Barry wiped the sweat off his forehead and kept nodding.

Meanwhile, Deacon had finished checking the medicinal herbs and told the staff to move the boxes inside. He then walked over to them.

Barry, clearly a pro at this, handed over the list as soon as he saw Deacon coming.

Deacon glanced at Riley. Technically, the list should be signed by the person in charge.

Riley gave a slight nod. Deacon hesitated for a second, then signed the list.

After signing, Barry didn't take the list back right away, looking a bit spaced out.

Deacon's lips curled into a tiny smile as he casually said, "Mr. Myers?"

Barry snapped back, awkwardly took the list, and apologized a bunch. It wasn't until Riley used work as an excuse that he finally left.

Watching the Benedict Group folks leave, Riley and Deacon headed back into the research institute.

"Is this batch of medicinal herbs enough?" Riley asked seriously.

Deacon, following behind her, nodded. "It should be. Because Barry refused yesterday, the Benedict Group sent more herbs than we ordered to make up for it. We should be good for now, maybe even have some extra."

Riley frowned a bit. "Why didn't you mention this earlier?"

Deacon raised an eyebrow. "I was going to, but when I saw the list he gave, the numbers matched what I counted, so I didn't bring it up."

If he had mentioned it in front of Barry, Barry might have taken the chance to claim credit and gloss over his refusal yesterday.

Deacon wasn't about to give him that chance.

Riley got his point and smiled knowingly. But this was probably Dalton's idea. She could avoid mentioning it in front of Barry, but she had to thank Dalton.

Back in the office, Riley called Dalton right away.

He picked up quickly, speaking before Riley could. "Dr. Monroe, did you get the medicinal herbs from the Benedict Group?"

Riley smiled. "Yes, we got them. Your people arrived even before I did. Also, I noticed the Benedict Group sent more herbs than I ordered. I assume this was your idea."

Dalton chuckled. "Yesterday's incident must have caused your research institute a lot of trouble. After you left, my grandfather scolded me again. This is our responsibility. So, I hope you accept these herbs."

Having Barry send more herbs was also partly Dalton's way of improving the Benedict Group's image in Riley's eyes.

Riley knew these herbs were nothing to the Benedict Group, so she didn't stand on ceremony. "Then I won't be polite. But Mr. Benedict, these herbs really helped me out of a tight spot. I'll visit in person to thank you another day."

Dalton laughed. "That would be great. My grandfather mentions you from time to time."

After a few more pleasantries, they ended the call.
