Chapter 356 Finley Should Come First
Catherine stared at the disconnected phone, her face tight with anger. Even as the car rolled up to the hospital, she was still fuming.
Donovan and Hollis had been dragging out their engagement for years, and now he wanted to call it quits? No way she was letting that happen!
When she got to Hollis's ward, Catherine barely managed to keep her cool. She rushed in, her face a mix of worry and frustration.
Hollis was curled up on the bed, looking like she was half-asleep. Catherine's heart ached seeing her like that. She slowed down, standing by the bed, just watching her.
Hollis had been through a lot with her injury, and it showed. She'd lost weight, and even in sleep, she looked troubled. Catherine felt a pang of guilt and softly said, "Hollis, I'm here."
Hollis's eyes fluttered open at the sound of her voice. She looked confused for a second, then recognized her. "Mrs. Wilder, you got here so fast."
Hollis tried to sit up, but Catherine quickly stopped her. "Just stay put."
She glanced at Hollis's injured arm, worry all over her face. "How's your arm? Let's get it checked out."
Hollis gave a small smile, trying to brush it off. "I don't really feel it anymore. Maybe I overreacted. Sorry for the trouble."
Catherine let out a breath. "I'm just glad you're okay."
Hollis looked past Catherine, clearly searching for someone. When she didn't see him, disappointment flickered in her eyes, but she asked calmly, "Mrs. Wilder, where's Donovan? Is he busy?"
Just hearing Donovan's name made Catherine's blood boil, but she kept her voice gentle. "Donovan went home. Finley's been having some issues, so he needed to be with her."
"Let him stay with Finley," Hollis said with a soft smile. "My arm's fine; Finley's more important."
Hollis's understanding made Catherine even more determined. She looked at Hollis with admiration. "You're the best daughter-in-law I could ask for. Get well soon. I'll make sure you and Donovan get married!"
Hollis smiled sweetly, but as soon as Catherine turned away, a cold look flashed in her eyes.
Finley's condition had started acting up right after coming back from Riley's place – too much of a coincidence!
Hollis had worked hard to keep Donovan by her side, but Finley had messed up her plans. She wasn't going to let Riley or Finley get away with it!
After a moment, Hollis looked up and met Catherine's eyes, suddenly saying, "By the way, didn't Finley used to like Ms. Monroe a lot? Maybe spending more time with her could help."
Catherine's eyes softened. She sighed. "I remember you didn't like Riley before."
Hollis smiled, saying, "I was afraid she'd take Donovan away, but if he really likes her, what can I do? And now, it's about Finley's health. Finley should come first."
