Chapter 420 Am We Going to Die?

The car rolled to a stop at the hotel entrance. Riley said goodbye to Adam, hopped out, and headed inside.

The next morning, Riley showed up at Harold's office right on time to sign the contract. After that, she boarded her flight back home.

On the plane, Riley finally started to unwind after a few stressful days.

This time, as long as she ensured that these companies could continue supplying the research institute, she could then leave the country without any concerns.

Just as she was deep in thought, someone plopped down in the seat next to her.

Riley snapped back to reality and glanced over. When she saw it was Donovan, her face tightened.

"Ms. Monroe, are you gonna think I'm stalking you again?" Donovan raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "If it bugs you, should I switch seats?"

Riley clenched her palm to keep her cool and replied coldly, "No need. I wouldn't ask a stranger to do that."

She turned slightly, half-lying with her back to Donovan.

Donovan, recalling what he had witnessed the previous night and noting Riley's demeanor, felt a surge of anger and spoke even more icily, "Why are you here alone? Where is Mr. Smith?"

Hearing him bring up Adam again, Riley sat up, frowned, and glared at him. "Adam and I aren't what you think. Please, Mr. Wilder, don't jump to conclusions!"

As soon as she finished, Donovan let out a cold snort. "How do you know what I think?"

Riley opened her mouth, then angrily lay back down, covering her face with a small blanket, not wanting to deal with him anymore.

She couldn't figure it out. As far as she knew, Adam barely interacted with Donovan, yet Donovan seemed to have it out for him.

Seeing her flustered and annoyed, Donovan's eyes grew colder. Just as he was about to say more, a flight attendant approached. Donovan frowned, held back his anger, and stayed quiet.

The plane slowly took off.

Riley sat stiffly facing the window, and throughout the flight, she heard the flight attendant approach several times to offer assistance, only to be met with Donovan's cold rejections.

Riley was glad she didn't have to turn around and face him.

But every time the flight attendant left, Donovan's gaze would land on her, like he was trying to see right through her, making her uncomfortable.

Feeling his eyes on her again, Riley threw off the thin blanket and sat up, about to say something, but Donovan spoke first, "She just said the plane hit some turbulence, and there might be bumps during the flight."

Riley swallowed her words, looking puzzled.

Before she could react, the plane suddenly jolted.

Riley lost her balance and leaned towards Donovan, only to be pulled back by her seatbelt.

Just as she settled back, she heard a chorus of screams and questions from other passengers.

"What's happening? Will the plane land safely?"

"Are we gonna die?"

Everyone felt anxious and unsettled.

Over the intercom, the flight attendants kept explaining the situation and trying to calm everyone down.

But as they were trying to reassure everyone, the plane jolted again, even more violently than before.
