Chapter 29 Meet Donovan again
The disease of Mr. Benedict Sr. was quite complicated, which was why the previous doctors couldn't cure it.
Deacon explained Mr. Benedict Sr.'s condition to her for quite a while.
At 6 o'clock in the evening, after Riley finished work, she went to the Benedict family's house based on the address given by Deacon.
The person who opened the door was a middle-aged man who appeared to be the butler.
He looked politely at Riley and asked, "Hello, may I ask who you are?"
Riley smiled and replied, "Hello, I'm the doctor who came to treat Mr. Benedict Sr.. We spoke over the phone this afternoon."
After listening, the butler gave her a quick once-over and couldn't help but feel some doubts in his mind due to her young age.
'Can someone this young handle it?'
However, he didn't show it on his face. After two seconds, he spoke, "Since you're a doctor, please come in."
After finishing speaking, Riley led the way.
Riley sensed that the other person didn't trust her, but she didn't pay it any mind.
Before treating the patients, she accepted any doubts.
Following the butler into the courtyard, the scenery there was beautiful, with well-manicured trees.
It was evident that the Benedict family was indeed a sophisticated household.
Entering the mansion, the butler instructed Riley to sit on the sofa. "We had a visitor just now. Our Mr. Benedict accompanied the guest upstairs to visit Mr. Benedict Senior. I'll go up and inform them. Please wait here for a moment."
Riley nodded. "Thank you."
After speaking, she sat down on the sofa.
Shortly after, a servant brought coffee and placed it in front of her.
After waiting for a while, Riley heard footsteps coming from upstairs. She set down her cup, stood up, and looked towards the staircase.
A young couple came down from upstairs.
At first glance, the two of them looked somewhat alike. The man was handsome, and the woman was beautiful. They were probably siblings.
As they walked and talked, they occasionally turned back to speak to the person behind them.
It should be the guest the butler mentioned earlier.
Riley's gaze followed them.
It wasn't until the figure behind the two revealed themselves.
The man was tall, in good shape, with a handsome face, and he held a little girl in his arms. He was engaged in conversation with the two in front of him, his countenance relaxed.
As if sensing her gaze, the man glanced faintly in her direction and locked eyes with her.
When their eyes met, Riley's heartbeat accelerated.
—Donovan!
She never expected to encounter him here!
The memories of that night surged up.
Riley's eyes trembled uncontrollably. She almost didn't dare to meet his gaze and harshly pinched her palm to barely calm herself down.
She took a deep breath, pretended to be calm, and shifted her gaze to the man and woman in front.
On the stairs, Donovan's footsteps paused. He squinted his eyes and looked at the woman by the sofa, his gaze roaming her face as if confirming something.
It was only when he saw her avert her gaze that Donovan's eyes abruptly darkened.
Sure enough, it was Riley!
He had thought he was mistaken.
However, how could this woman be here?
Donovan felt a slight confusion, but his face didn't show it.
"What's wrong, Van?"
The man in front, seeing him stop, turned back with a puzzled look and asked.
