Chapter 128: Will Never Let Anyone Bully Her
Upon their arrival at the kindergarten, the teacher saw all five of them approaching at the same time. She appeared both happy and slightly embarrassed as she greeted, "Landon's mom.”
Despite the fact that the decision to expel the two children was suggested by Hollis, the teacher still felt somewhat apologetic and wanted to apologize to her.
Riley, however, interrupted her with a smile. "Landon and Winston will be troubling you again."
The teacher nodded promptly. "It's my responsibility, and the two children are very well-behaved. They don't cause any issues at all." Riley added, "Also, Finley has been a bit withdrawn these past few days, not really engaging with anyone. Could you please keep a closer watch on her?”
She didn't directly mention Finley's autism.
After all, Riley didn't know if Finley could hear them, and if she did, it might hurt her feelings.
The teacher nodded in agreement.
Landon and Winston each took one of their little sister's hands and assured their mother, "We will take good care of our little sister. We won't let anyone bully her!”
Riley smiled and patted their heads.
As class time neared, the teacher was ready to usher the three children inside when she noticed Riley still standing there, with Donovan standing motionless behind her.
Meeting Donovan's icy stare, the teacher felt a twinge of nervousness. "Is there anything else?”
Riley smiled apologetically, "I'm a bit concerned and would like to observe for a while. I hope it won't disturb your class?"
With Donovan present, the teacher didn't dare refuse and promptly ushered them into the classroom. Riley settled into a corner to sit.
Moments later, Donovan sat down beside Riley, making her feel a bit strange.
The two of them quietly sat in the corner, watching the children play games.
The teacher positioned Finley in the center to boost her morale. With encouragement from Landon and Winston, the other children treated Finley like a mascot, taking turns interacting with her.
But Finley kept her head down, showing no reaction.
After several attempts, the children's enthusiasm began to wane.
Watching them play, Riley couldn't help but feel worried.
She had believed that bringing Finley back to a familiar environment would improve her mood, but it appeared to have no impact.
However, after a few rounds of games, although Finley remained expressionless, she appeared to recognize Landon and Winston, sticking close to them. When they interacted with her, her eyes would track their movements.
After watching for an hour, Riley checked the time and realized she needed to go to the research institute. Though still a bit worried, she got up to leave.
Donovan didn't stay much longer, either.
After a long day at the research institute, Riley realized it was time for school to finish and decided to arrive early to wait at the kindergarten gate.
Upon reaching the gate, she noticed Donovan was already waiting there.
He was taking on the task of picking up and dropping off the three little ones.
Riley accepted Donovan's assistance, exchanging a brief greeting with him before waiting at the gate for the teacher to bring the children out.
Before long, the children emerged in a line, with Landon and Winston flanking Finley like little princes.
They all got into Donovan's car.
Winston tugged at his mommy's sleeve with a cheeky grin.
Riley looked over, puzzled, only to see the little guy smiling brightly, not sure what he was so happy about.
“Mommy, after our nap today, little sister woke up crying, possibly from a nightmare. The teacher and the other kids couldn't calm her down, but Landon and I were able to. Do you think she recognizes us now?”
