Chapter 141 Entangled Again

The next morning, Donovan didn't show up, so Riley took the three kids to kindergarten by herself.

Ms. Zoey Scott was waiting at the entrance. Seeing Riley by herself, she was a bit surprised and asked, "Landon's mom, why are you alone today?"

Riley paused for a moment, taken aback by the question. For the past two days, Donovan had been accompanying her, yet she hadn’t anticipated the teacher would notice and question it today.

Feeling slightly awkward, Riley struggled for a response.

Finley, however, had already taken out a small notebook and scribbled. "I'm staying at Auntie's house now!"

Finley held up the notebook, smiling so much that her eyes curved.

Zoey, remembering how Finley seemed lost the past few days, couldn't help but smile at the little one's happiness. She reached out and patted Finley's head. "I see!" She held it up with a beaming smile, her eyes twinkling with delight.

Zoey, remembering how lost Finley had seemed the past few days, couldn't help but return the smile. She affectionately patted Finley’s head. "I see!"

After that, she glanced at Riley, a touch of emotion in her eyes. Clearly, Finley had found solace and joy in Landon and Winston’s family.

Relieved that Finley had answered for her, Riley took a deep breath and handed over the three kids to Zoey. "I'll leave the kids in your care."

After bidding farewell to the children, Riley drove away. She had been so occupied with taking care of Finley and dealing with some research institute matters that she hadn’t visited Daniel for the past few days. It was technically time for his next treatment.

Thinking of this, Riley called Dalton to confirm if she could go over now and then headed to the Benedict family estate.

Dalton was already waiting for her at home. As soon as Riley walked in, he greeted her with a warm smile. "Dr. Monroe, if you hadn't contacted me, I would have been the one to call you."

Riley smiled apologetically. "I've had some things to deal with these past two days. How is Daniel's health?"

Dalton was just making small talk and held no ire towards her. Hearing her question, his expression softened with admiration. "Thanks to your excellent medical skills, Grandpa's health has significantly improved. Otherwise, I would have been urging you over for sure."

Relief washed over Riley upon hearing about Daniel’s stable condition. She grabbed her medical kit and headed upstairs.

Dalton followed a step behind. As they made their way upstairs, he noticed how her hand holding the kit and frowned slightly. "Is your hand injured?"

Riley waved it off, "I accidentally spilled some soup and got burned. It's no big deal."

She then added, "Don't worry, it won't affect Daniel's treatment."

The two of them entered Daniel's bedroom one after the other. Daniel, having been informed of her arrival, was waiting patiently by his bed.

Riley greeted him with respect and began the treatment by the bedside. Although her hand injury looked rather severe, the medication was effective, and it had been healing for a day; she felt barely any pain. The treatment for Daniel proceeded as usual.

Once the treatment was concluded, Riley started to pack up her tools. Dalton stepped forward to assist her. Aware of his concern for her injury, Riley hesitated momentarily but didn’t prevent him from helping.

Coming downstairs, Riley intended to leave directly, but Dalton called her back, "Dr. Monroe, wait a moment."

Riley paused, puzzled, watching him retrieve something from a drawer and walk over to her. "This is our family’s best burn ointment. For a doctor, an injured hand is quite significant. Please, take good care of it."

About to express her gratitude, Riley was interrupted by a cold, sarcastic voice from a nearby room.

"Brother, you better not be too kind, or you might end up getting entangled with someone again!"
