Chapter 105 Finley Gets Hit
On the way to kindergarten, Finley sat in the backseat clutching her backpack, looking downcast. Hollis also wanted to improve her relationship with Finley, at least on the surface.
Glancing at Finley's demeanor through the rearview mirror, Hollis pretended to be concerned. “Is something bothering you, Finley? Do you need Auntie Hollis to take you to the hospital?”
Finley heard Hollis's voice but didn't even lift her head. Hollis furrowed her brow and continued in a gentle tone, “How about Auntie Hollis takes a day off for you, and we go back to rest?”
The sound fell, but there was still no response.
After waiting for a few seconds, Hollis became impatient. “Finley Wilder, I'm talking to you. Why do you give me such a sullen look? Can't I have a proper conversation with you?”
Upon hearing Hollis's displeased tone, Finley subtly shrank a bit, clutching her backpack tighter.
Seeing Finley's obvious resistance toward her and thinking about what Catherine mentioned to her last night about Donovan's reluctance to marry her, Hollis became increasingly irritated.
If it weren't for Finley's attitude toward Hollis, would Donovan still have Riley by his side? She wouldn't also be so anxious just because Riley went back to the country!
After a moment of contemplation, Hollis drove the car to the side of the road with a dissatisfied mood and abruptly slammed on the brakes.
Caught off guard, Finley stumbled forward, lips pursed, and raised her eyes to meet Hollis's fiery gaze in the rearview mirror.
Their eyes locked. Finley's eyes narrowed slightly, looking around in panic.
Every time Hollis laid hands on Finley, her eyes held the same intensity.
But now, with Finley unable to seek help, what could she do?
Seeing Finley's fearful expression, Hollis's anger flared even more. She opened the car door and sat in the back seat, slamming the door shut.
Finley quickly shifted away, trying to put some distance between them, but Hollis roughly grabbed her arm.
“What do you mean, mute girl? Acting so repulsively toward me, is it all for show in front of your father?” Hollis glared at her menacingly, her grip tightening, “Have I not been good to you all these years? I've treated you almost like a deity, and this is how you repay me? Do you think I wouldn't dare to do something to you?”
Despite the pain in her eyes, Finley bit her lip, refusing to make a sound and keeping her gaze lowered, afraid to meet Hollis's eyes.
Unable to elicit a response from Finley, Hollis grew angrier. She pulled Finley onto her lap without hesitation and began to slap her buttocks mercilessly. “You mute girl, if it weren't for being with Donovan, do you think I would have been so friendly to you? And you? You ungrateful creature, not only do you not appreciate me, but you also dare to get close to that wretched Riley! You don't know gratitude. Let me tell you, whether you accept my marriage to your father or not, you will have to accept it! Otherwise, don't blame me for being rude!”
The sound of crisp slaps and Hollis's venomous curses echoed in the car.
With red eyes and tears swirling in them, Finley bit her lip tightly, refusing to cry in front of Hollis.
“Keep defying me!” Seeing her silence, Hollis twisted her inner thigh harshly. “I'll see how much you can endure!”
In pain, Finley kicked her leg, tears streaming down her face uncontrollably as she cried silently, struggling to get off Hollis.
