Chapter 429 Why Did You Tell Her?

The next morning, Riley woke up feeling way better.

She remembered she had to take Landon and Winston to school, so she quickly freshened up.

When she opened the door, they were already waiting.

Landon and Winston, super excited that Riley was taking them to school, had gotten up early.

They had wanted to knock and wake her up, but knowing she wasn't feeling well, they just waited quietly.

Seeing Riley come out, their eyes lit up instantly. "Mommy!"

Riley patted their heads. "Let's go, have breakfast downstairs, and then I'll take you to kindergarten."

Landon and Winston nodded obediently, each grabbing one of her hands, occasionally glancing up at her to see if she was really feeling better.

As they headed downstairs together, Sophie had breakfast ready, and Harper was already seated at the dining table.

Seeing them come down, Harper stood up and looked at Riley. "How are you feeling?"

Riley smiled, "Much better. I'll take them to school in a bit."

Harper nodded, feeling relieved. "Then I'll head out first."

She had come early to check on Riley's health.

Riley was about to ask her to stay for breakfast, but Harper said, "I've already eaten. You all take your time. I'm off to work."

Hearing this, Riley didn't insist.

After saying goodbye to the kids, Harper left.

Riley sat down at the table with Landon and Winston, raising her hand to serve them food.

But Landon and Winston were quicker, each placing a piece of bread in front of her, saying in their sweet voices, "Mommy, have some more to eat."

Riley was momentarily stunned, then smiled gratefully, "Thank you, my sweethearts."

As they were enjoying breakfast, the doorbell suddenly rang.

Riley thought it was Harper returning, so she went to open the door.

Seeing Donovan at the door took Riley aback.

He stood there, impeccably dressed in a suit, holding Finley by the hand, staring at her with an unreadable expression.

Finley looked up at her with wide, worried eyes.

The two of them just stood there at her door.

It took Riley a moment to react. She frowned at Donovan. "Mr. Wilder, is there something you need this early in the morning?"

She couldn't bear to be cold to Finley, so she chose to address Donovan.

As soon as she finished speaking, Finley tugged carefully at her clothes.

Riley instinctively looked down and saw Finley's big eyes full of concern.

Meeting her gaze, Finley cautiously asked, "Riley, are you okay now?"

Riley was taken aback again, not knowing what Finley was asking.

While she was puzzled, Donovan's deep voice sounded in her ear, "When we got home yesterday, Finley smelled your scent on me and asked what happened. I had to tell her you weren't feeling well."

Riley frowned slightly. "I wasn't seriously ill. Why did you tell her?"

She just didn't want Finley to worry.

But hearing this, Finley thought Riley didn't want her to visit and pouted in grievance.
