Chapter 353 What Did Riley Say to You?

Finley finished talking and looked at Donovan. She could sense Riley and the two boys' resistance toward Donovan. To her, it was all Donovan's fault.

She hoped that by being blunt, he might reflect and be nicer to Riley and the boys, maybe even win their affection. Then, maybe Riley wouldn't think about leaving.

The idea of Riley moving abroad made Finley sad.

Donovan's mood shifted after what she said. He'd heard similar things from Riley herself. Did Riley tell Finley this directly? Was that why Finley seemed so down when she got back this afternoon?

"Did Riley tell you this afternoon that she doesn't like me?" Donovan asked.

Finley shook her head, which made Donovan feel a bit better. If Finley had figured this out from Riley's behavior rather than being told outright, it was less worrying. But what had made her so upset at dinner? Donovan's curiosity grew.

He couldn't help but ask, "Then why were you in such a bad mood when you came back this afternoon? What did Riley say to you?"

Finley's face fell even more. "Auntie Riley won't play with me anymore," she mumbled sadly.

Donovan's eyes darkened. "Why?"

Riley had promised him their issues wouldn't affect the kids. Why now?

Finley just shook her head.

Donovan asked patiently, "Did Riley tell you not to tell me?"

Finley shook her head again.

"Then you can tell me," Donovan encouraged. "Maybe I can help convince her."

Even though Finley doubted it, she felt a tiny bit of hope and answered softly, "Auntie Riley is going to take Landon and Winston abroad."

Saying it out loud made Finley even sadder. Donovan felt a cold shiver run through him. Riley planned to move abroad with the boys? He hadn't known this. Was it because of him, or just something to calm Finley?

If it was true, it meant Riley was planning to leave again without facing him. He had searched for her for six long years. Now that he had finally found her, the idea of her slipping away again without a word made him furious.

Finley waited a long time without getting a response from Donovan, her eyes slowly reddening. She muttered, "Daddy, I don't want Auntie Riley to leave."

Donovan snapped out of his dark thoughts at her plea, looking at his tearful daughter tugging at his sleeve. Despite his own emotions, he couldn't bring himself to make any promises.

He definitely didn't want Riley to escape from him again easily. But, given their current relationship, what right did he have to interfere in Riley's life?
