Chapter 176 It's All That Bitch's Fault
Donovan had been pretty busy lately, but he still showed up at Riley's doorstep every day.
The scene of Riley meeting Adam privately and the questions Riley asked him kept popping up in his mind.
Because of their last argument, Riley had even suggested he take Finley back. Donovan had come over several times but rarely showed himself to Riley, only watching the four of them interact from a distance.
Seeing Finley becoming more lively day by day, Donovan thought she just liked Riley, but he didn't realize Finley could now talk.
Meanwhile, Hollis showed up downstairs at the Wilder Group just as work was ending.
"Sorry, Miss Sutton, Mr. Wilder just left," Paxton, who was just getting off work, reminded her when he saw her pressing the floor button for the CEO's office.
Hollis's face tightened at the words. "Where did he go?"
Paxton gave a formal smile and replied, "How would I know Mr. Wilder's schedule? If you want to know, you can call him yourself."
After saying that, Paxton bowed respectfully and turned to leave.
As the elevator doors slowly closed, Hollis bit her lip hard, filled with anger.
Although Donovan had humiliated her in front of so many people last time, making her a laughingstock in high society, it also made her more determined not to give up.
These past few days, she shamelessly contacted Donovan repeatedly, hoping to win him back. After all, only if Donovan changed his mind and their families finalized the engagement would the rumors be dispelled. Otherwise, no matter what Hollis did, it would be in vain.
But the more she tried to get close to Donovan, the more disheartened she felt.
Since that incident at the birthday party, Donovan not only didn't make any conciliatory gestures towards the Sutton family but also focused all his attention on Riley.
She didn't even need to make the call to know Donovan had gone to see Riley again.
Thinking this, Hollis pressed the elevator button and strode away in her high heels.
When she got back to the Sutton family, William and Alice were sitting in the living room.
Seeing her come in, they were about to ask if she had seen Donovan, but one look at their daughter's face told them everything. "Donovan isn't here again?"
These past few days, both Hollis and her parents had tried to meet with Donovan, but every attempt was rejected.
Hollis had even gone to his place several times, but she couldn't even see him.
Furious, Hollis threw her handbag on the ground. "It's all because of that bitch! What's so good about her anyway!"
Hearing this, Alice frowned slightly. "Are you saying Donovan went to see that woman again?"
Hollis sat down beside them angrily. "What else? Now everyone outside is saying he's going to marry Riley, and I'm just a suitor whom Donovan turned me down!"
Alice and William exchanged a glance. They had heard such rumors too, but like Hollis, they had believed that as long as Donovan agreed to the engagement, the rumors would be dispelled. Yet, it seemed that would be hard to achieved.
Alice reached out and patted Hollis's hand to comfort her. "No matter what, this matter needs to be addressed. Don't be anxious."
"How? If we wait any longer, that bitch will marry him!" Hollis's expression was somewhat crazed.
Alice was equally angry but remained calm. "Donovan's opinion may not be the same as the Wilder family's. You saw last time that Catherine has a strong prejudice against that woman."
Hearing this, Hollis's expression softened a bit. "You mean..."
"We'll go to the Wilder family again," Alice said coldly.
