Chapter 64 Take Your Time
Edward didn't ask further. If his granddaughter wanted to learn, he would teach.
The two of them had the servant bring a pen and practiced writing on the dining table in the dining room. Donovan saw his father taking care of Finley, greeted them, and then returned to his study.
Hollis was itching with anger. Of course, she could tell that Finley was clearly trying to distance herself from her, repeatedly rejecting her in front of the Wilder family!
At this rate, Edward and Catherine were bound to notice something was not right!
No, she must find an opportunity to teach Finley a lesson and make her behave!
Due to Finley's sudden visit, when Riley took the two kids to the research institute, it was almost ten o'clock. After settling Landon and Winston in her office, Riley immediately started working without stopping.
The set of data proposed by Deacon had not yet been properly processed, and upon seeing Riley's arrival, he came directly to her.
Both of them were completely immersed in their work. It wasn't until the end of the workday in the evening that they barely reached a conclusion.
Riley stretched and saw Landon and Winston beside her, also engrossed with their laptops, softly calling out, "Landon, Winston, it's time to go home."
Upon hearing this, the two kids looked up from behind their laptops, nodded obediently, put down their computers, and got off the couch.
Deacon checked the time and smilingly suggested, "It's just about dinner time. You've helped me a lot today, so how about I treat you and the kids to a meal together?"
Riley was taken aback for a moment and turned to look at Landon and Winston, seeking their opinion.
Landon and Winston exchanged a glance, understanding each other.
This Uncle Stone seemed to be interested in pursuing their mommy.
After observing all day, Landon and Winston thought Uncle Stone was indeed outstanding; at least, in terms of profession, he could hold a good conversation with their Mommy, and his appearance was acceptable.
However, for some reason, whenever Landon and Winston thought about another man around their mommy, they could only picture their daddy.
It was strange; even though they had never seen their mommy and daddy together, they instinctively felt that only their daddy belonged by their mommy's side.
So, they decided to keep their distance from Uncle Stone.
"Thank you, Uncle Stone, but my Mommy already has plans tonight, so we'll pass," Landon politely declined.
Deacon looked at Riley in confusion. Throughout the day, she hadn't mentioned any plans for the evening.
Riley glanced at Landon and Winston, unsure why they were lying, but went along with it and said, "I have plans to have dinner with a friend tonight; let's do it another day."
Deacon smiled gently. "I must have been absent-minded not to ask about your plans. Since that's the case, I won't disturb you all."
After bidding farewell to the two kids, Deacon left.
As they left the research institute, Riley furrowed her brow, looking at the two kids in puzzlement. "Why did you lie just now? Is it because you don't like Uncle Stone?"
The two kids earnestly shook their heads. "We're helping Mommy avoid unnecessary romantic entanglements!"
Seeing their serious expressions, Riley felt a bit embarrassed. "Whatever the reason, you can't lie casually in the future."
The two children nodded obediently. Winston grinned and leaned in. "We think Uncle Stone is indeed nice, but Mommy, you should take her time choosing. We're not in a rush to have a new daddy."
Riley couldn't help but chuckle, "Take my time choosing? Do you think I'm picking cabbages?"
