Chapter 148 Making It Up to Her

Perhaps because he upset Landon and Winston, Donovan hadn't shown up for several days, only occasionally sending messages to check on Finley.Riley, too, had become more cautious about him due to the incident and felt a sense of relief when he didn't come around.

When she received messages from Donovan that had nothing to do with Landon and Winston, she replied to each one.

Donovan sent messages quite frequently, showing that he still cared a lot about Finley.

'Since he cares so much about his daughter, why hasn't he shown up these past few days? Leaving Finley at my house, what is he thinking? Is he really that at ease?' Riley was a bit puzzled.

'Fortunately, Finley is very likable. She's cute and delicate, with a particularly sweet and clingy personality.' Every time Finley acted spoiled with her, Riley couldn't help but think of her lost daughter. If her lost daughter had grown up safely, she would be about Finley's age now.

Thinking this way, Riley subconsciously treated Finley as family, feeling that being good to Finley was a way to make up for her own lost little daughter.

Landon and Winston, who spent every day with Finley, treated her like their own little sister, protecting her well both at home and in kindergarten.

During the days Finley stayed at Riley's house, she was almost always smiling.

Seeing Finley so happy, Riley felt both comforted and a bit reluctant.

At this rate, Finley's condition should stabilize soon, meaning she would be able to go home soon.

Thinking of this, Riley felt a bit unwilling to let her go.

On the weekend, Riley was planning where to take the kids to play.

Finley had been staying with them for quite some time, and Riley hadn't taken her out to play properly even once.

"Mommy!" Landon and Winston eagerly came over. "Let's take Finley to the aquarium."

Hearing this, Riley looked at Finley to get her opinion.

Finley obediently nodded.

As long as she was with Riley, Landon and Winston, she could go anywhere.

Seeing that Finley agreed, Riley decided to take the kids to the aquarium after a bit of simple packing.

Donovan was busy with work and rarely took Finley out to play, and it was Landon and Winston's first time at a domestic aquarium.

As soon as the three kids entered the aquarium, they were captivated by the various fish on both sides, frequently stopping to interact with them.

Riley patiently waited for them, took photos, and introduced some of the fish she knew.

They had a great time.

Riley took them to the children's area and sat on the side waiting.

Suddenly, her phone rang.

Seeing the caller ID, Riley frowned slightly as she thought, 'Donovan? He has been contacting me through messages all this time. What is up today?'

"Where are you?" Donovan's voice came through as soon as she answered.

Riley was taken aback. "Is something wrong?"

Donovan said in a deep voice, "I came to bring something for Finley. Olivia said you went out. Where are you? I'll come find you."

Donovan had come early in the morning to see Finley but didn't find her. When Paxton asked if he wanted to go back, Donovan hesitated for a moment and then called Riley.

Seeing that it was about Finley, Riley hesitated and replied, "We're at the aquarium."

On the other end, Donovan's voice immediately followed. "I'll be there soon."
