Chapter 192 Hard to Fall Asleep

Riley finished her porridge, and Donovan silently went over to adjust her hospital bed. After taking the bowl out, he returned.

The two of them remained silent.

Riley had slept the entire day and found it hard to fall asleep again, but she kept her eyes closed, not wanting to interact with Donovan.

On the other hand, Donovan had been busy all day and was indeed a bit tired. After sitting back down, he closed his eyes and fell into a light sleep.

A steady breathing sound filled the quiet ward.

Riley slowly opened her eyes and glanced in Donovan's direction. His coat was draped over her blanket, and he was only wearing a thin shirt, with his arms crossed over his chest, looking like he wasn't sleeping well.

After hesitating for a moment, Riley carefully got up, took his coat, walked over to him, and gently placed it over his front.

As she stood up, she saw Donovan's handsome face, and her feelings became complicated.

It was the same face as six years ago, but seeing it now, Riley no longer felt the same infatuation she did back then.

She didn't care how the owner of this face viewed her anymore. Now, she just wanted to live a good life with her two kids.

Thinking of this, Riley smiled slightly, walked over to turn off the light in the room, and then returned to her bed.

She closed her eyes, but her mind was racing, making it hard to fall asleep.

Donovan slept lightly and woke up almost as soon as he heard movement from the hospital bed. Hearing Riley's footsteps approaching him, he kept his eyes closed.

After a while, Riley's footsteps stopped in front of him, and the faint scent of her perfume lingered around his nose.

His breathing became irregular for a moment, but sensing Riley's gaze on his face, he inexplicably continued to pretend to be asleep.

It wasn't until he heard movement from the hospital bed again that he slowly opened his eyes, looking deeply at Riley on the bed.

Neither of them slept well that night.

Early the next morning, Riley was awakened by the noise at the door of the hospital room.

"The kids were worried about Ms. Monroe and insisted on coming to see her first thing in the morning," Sophie's voice sounded helpless.

Then came Landon's worried voice, "How's Mommy? Is she still sleeping?"

Donovan responded hoarsely, "Yes, let's wait a bit before going in."

He hadn't slept much that night. When the kids arrived in the morning, he woke up and saw that Riley was still asleep. He got up and kept the kids outside, closing the door behind him.

Seeing Donovan's slightly haggard face, Landon furrowed his little brows and agreed cooperatively.

Beside him, Winston anxiously peeked through the crack in the door, trying to see how Riley was doing but couldn't see anything, his little face falling.

Finley, holding Sophie's hand, stared at the ward door with big, worried eyes. But hearing Donovan say that Riley was still sleeping, she quietly stood outside without making a sound.

For a moment, the hallway was silent.

Riley felt a warm sensation in her heart knowing that the kids were so worried about her. She got up, intending to open the door for them.

As soon as she sat up, she met Donovan's eyes through the small window in the ward door.

Their eyes met, and Riley was momentarily stunned.

Just as she was hesitating about how to react, Donovan had already looked away, lowering his gaze to the kids in front of him, and said in a deep voice, "You can go in now."

With that, Donovan turned and opened the door.

The kids saw Riley, who was already half-sitting up inside, and their eyes lit up as they rushed in.
