Chapter 332 Causing Trouble for Riley

Stepping out of the stairwell, Hollis's face twisted. She darted into the restroom, gritted her teeth, and gently knocked her cast-covered arm against the wall. Pain shot through her, and she winced hard.

Checking the time, she realized it was about when Catherine usually dropped by. Hollis hustled back up the stairs to her ward. Her arm was already killing her, and after climbing six or seven flights, she was sweating bullets by the time she got back.

Donovan was waiting in the ward. He was about to call her when he heard the door.

"Donovan, you're back," Hollis said, sounding kinda down.

Donovan gave a half-hearted nod. "Where'd you go?"

Earlier, after seeing Riley leave with the kids, he had gone to orthopedics to find Hollis but didn't see her. When he got back to the ward, she was still MIA.

Hollis forced a smile. "I came out of orthopedics and thought you might still be in pediatrics, so I went to check. But I didn't see you there, so I asked the doc about Ms. Monroe's kid to see if I could help."

Donovan didn't think much of it and replied coolly, "If she needs help, she'll ask."

Though he said that, Donovan knew Riley wouldn't ask for help unless she really had to.

Hollis nodded and flopped back on the bed. "I was just being nosy. The doc said the kid's condition isn't serious."

As they were chatting, there was a knock on the door. Catherine walked in, sat by Hollis's bed, and asked with concern, "How are you feeling today? Arm still hurting? Donovan taking good care of you?"

Hollis glanced nervously at Donovan and smiled. "Donovan's been great. Thanks for checking in, Aunt Catherine. You must be tired coming to the hospital every day. My injury's not that bad anymore, so you don't have to work so hard."

Catherine looked disapproving. "Nonsense. I need to make sure you get better."

Hollis smiled gratefully. Catherine gently touched the cast on Hollis's arm. "You've been stuck in bed for a while now; it must be boring. It's good I can keep you company and chat."

Noticing the sweat on Hollis's forehead, Catherine got worried. "Why are you sweating so much? Haven't you been lying in bed? Is your arm hurting again?"

Feeling guilty, Hollis shifted to hide her arm and explained softly, "I was just feeling a bit bored lying down, so I climbed the stairs."

Hearing this, a hint of suspicion flashed in Catherine's eyes. She turned to look at Donovan. Donovan frowned slightly, not knowing Hollis had climbed the stairs. However, her explanation seemed legit.

"Didn't Donovan go with you?" Catherine asked.

At this, Hollis instinctively glanced at Donovan standing by the bed, her eyes flickering as if trying to find an excuse for him. Seeing her struggle, Catherine turned to Donovan and frowned. "Where were you when Hollis was climbing the stairs?"

Donovan frowned and stayed quiet. If he mentioned Riley, Catherine would probably go hassle her again.
