Chapter 238 Does She Think I'm a Fool?
A chill ran through Hollis's heart as she locked eyes with Riley. Just as she thought, Riley was staying here too!
Riley couldn't avoid her, so she calmly walked to the elevator, pretending not to see her.
Hollis saw through it and bit her lip, striding after her. "Ms. Monroe, Mr. Smith, what a coincidence! You’re staying here too?"
Riley frowned, not wanting to respond.
Adam noticed and subtly stepped between them, distancing Hollis. He nodded. "Miss Sutton, what a coincidence. You are..."
Before he could finish, Hollis interrupted with a smile, "How coincidental. Donovan is also staying here. I was planning to surprise him! I just got his room key."
She waved the key in front of them, her tone boastful. "The receptionist must have seen the news about my engagement to Donovan. They just gave me the key."
Her words implied she was staying with Donovan. Plus, their engagement was well-known.
The three of them entered the elevator.
Hollis reached to press the floor button, but Adam had already pressed the top floor.
Seeing this, Hollis paused and bit her lip out of sight.
They were on the same floor as Donovan. What a coincidence!
The elevator was just the three of them. Riley didn't want to engage, and Adam had nothing to say either.
With Hollis now silent, the atmosphere was tense.
"By the way, what brings you here?" Hollis forced a smile, trying to break the silence.
She wanted to see who was following whom!
Though she directed the question to Adam, she kept an eye on Riley.
Riley's expression was indifferent, making it unclear if she hadn't heard or just didn't care.
"There was an academic conference yesterday. We came to attend," Adam replied briefly.
Hollis's heart sank.
If they had legitimate business, what about Donovan?
Her suspicions grew, and she could barely contain her anger. Her smile stiffened. "Really? Have you seen Donovan these past two days? I wonder if he's busy."
Adam was about to speak but noticed Riley frown slightly, so he held back.
"Mr. Wilder is so busy. How would we have the chance to see him?" Riley said coldly, curling her lips.
The elevator doors opened, and Riley walked out before Hollis could react.
Hollis followed, her eyes dark.
They had breakfast together this morning, and now she said she hadn't seen him. Did Riley think she was a fool?
Following Riley, Hollis watched her enter a room. She looked at the room number and then at her own, her face turning pale.
Donovan's room was between hers and Riley's.
Even if she could convince herself that staying on the same floor was a coincidence, Riley and Donovan were only separated by a wall!
Hollis could no longer find any reason to convince herself!
