Chapter 170 Treat You to a Meal

Daniel's treatment was finally over. Now, Riley just needed to prescribe his meds and remind him to take them on time.

Riley didn't have to visit the Benedict family as often anymore, freeing up her schedule. She spent most of her days at the research institute, either handling small tasks or working with her team in the lab.

Deacon, her assistant from abroad, naturally continued to help her, and they worked together seamlessly.

One day, after finally making a breakthrough in their research, they left the lab early.

Deacon suggested, "We've been swamped for days. How about we grab a meal to celebrate?"

Riley checked the time and apologized, "Maybe another time. I have to pick up the kids later."

Deacon didn't push it. They left the institute one after the other.

As soon as Riley got in the car, her phone rang. It was Adam.

"Adam, what's up?"

Adam's gentle voice came through. "Got some time later? We've been back for a while and haven't caught up. Can I treat Dr. Monroe to a meal today?"

Riley was about to say she had to pick up the kids, but Adam continued, "I've already booked the restaurant, just waiting for you."

Hearing this, Riley swallowed her refusal.

She did need to pick up the kids, but since Adam had gone to such lengths, it felt wrong to say no.

Plus, when Riley first went abroad, Adam had helped her a lot. Both emotionally and logically, she couldn't leave him hanging.
"Alright, where are you? I'll be there soon," she finally agreed.

Adam, seemingly expecting her to say yes, quickly gave her the name and location of the restaurant.

Riley agreed.

After hanging up, she called someone to pick up the kids from kindergarten, then headed to the restaurant Adam had booked.

When she arrived, Adam was already waiting at the table.

Seeing Riley come in, Adam waved her over. She quickly walked over and sat down opposite him, apologizing, "Sorry to keep you waiting."

Adam smiled. "It's okay. Did I interrupt your work earlier?"

When they were abroad, Riley often lost track of time due to work and sometimes even worked through the night.

Riley shook her head with a smile. "No, I got off work early today."

She waved to call the waiter and said to Adam, "Since I was late, let me treat you to this meal. Besides, I returned to the country earlier than you."

Adam agreed without hesitation. "Then I won't be polite."

They ordered their meals and started chatting about their work, getting deeply engrossed in the conversation.

Meanwhile, at the restaurant entrance, the manager personally welcomed a group of people.

Donovan was surrounded by the group, occasionally turning his head to listen to the person next to him.

As he turned, he noticed a familiar figure by the window.

Seeing the two people at the table chatting happily, Donovan's expression suddenly turned cold.

"Mr. Wilder?" One of his companions, puzzled by his sudden stop, urged him.

Donovan frowned, slowly withdrawing his gaze from them, and followed the group into a private room.
