Chapter 237 So Many Entanglements Occurred
Hollis arrived in North City around noon. She had called Catherine earlier to get the location of the Donovan Hotel. After landing, she headed straight there.
Seeing the hotel, Hollis frowned, her suspicions growing. Given Donovan's status, he should be in a five-star hotel, not this upscale but not top-tier place. Unless he was here to see Riley.
Her heart sank further. She quickly approached the front desk. "Hi, can you tell me Donovan's room number?"
The receptionist was about to ask her relationship with Donovan when Hollis added, "I'm his fiancée. I called him earlier, but I forgot the room number. I don't want to bother him again. Can you check for me?"
She smiled politely. The receptionist, noting her demeanor, didn't doubt her and quickly found Donovan's room number.
Hollis's heart fluttered with how easily she got the info. "He won't be back for a while. Can I get a key card to his room? I'll wait upstairs."
The receptionist awkwardly refused, "Sorry, we can't give out a guest's room key."
Hollis's smile stiffened. "Then check if the room next to his is available and book it for me."
The receptionist agreed and quickly completed the booking.
Meanwhile, Riley and Adam walked in. After breakfast, Donovan had left for work, much to Riley's relief. With no plans for the morning, Adam had introduced her to some seniors from the conference, allowing her to apologize for leaving abruptly. Fortunately, they didn't mind.
By the time they returned to the hotel, it was noon. Riley harbored some concerns, fearing an encounter with Donovan upon her return. She was truly at a loss on how to confront Donovan. After six years, she had thought they'd be strangers, but things got complicated. Donovan's attitude towards her had changed drastically, giving her a headache.
As they reached the hotel, Adam whispered something to her, but she was too distracted to hear. The receptionist's voice broke her thoughts. "Here's your room key, please take it."
Riley instinctively looked up and saw Hollis at the front desk, her expression changing. Why was Hollis here?
Remembering their café conversation, Riley didn't want to get involved and tried to leave quietly. Adam, noticing her distraction, asked, "Riley? What are you thinking about?"
Riley paused, realizing she couldn't avoid this. She looked up and saw Hollis staring directly at them, having heard Adam's voice.
