Chapter 66 We're Not That Familiar
Hearing Mia's words, Hollis's emotions fluctuated. Rejected by Donovan earlier and learning suddenly that this woman was returning to her country, Hollis didn't dare to wait any longer.
During this period, she had been trying every possible way to secure a position by Donovan's side.
Today, bright and early, she deliberately invited Edward and Catherine to persuade Donovan, thinking Donovan would listen and change his mind. Unexpectedly, he was still rejected, and she even had to face Finley's displeasure all day.
With both Edward and Catherine present, she didn't dare to show her anger directly.
By the end of the day, Hollis was filled with a sense of suppressed frustration, so she decided to go out with Mia to calm her emotions. Little did she expect to hear such news.
Mr. Benedict Senior's condition, which had stumped many doctors, was miraculously cured by Riley! Moreover, Dalton even signed a contract with Riley to supply medicinal materials to the institute at half price in advance!
So, her previous efforts to rally the herbal merchants in H City against Riley's institute were all in vain?
Thinking about this, Hollis's eyes turned slightly cold. "Didn't I arrange a medical team to treat Grandpa Benedict? Wasn't it effective? Why did she take over Grandpa Benedict's treatment?"
With that, Hollis coldly glanced at the woman in front of her, feeling full of anger. Hollis tried every means, yet Riley still managed to find herbal merchants in H City!
Surely, Riley must have made fun of her behind her back!
Mia paused for a moment and hesitated before saying, "Well, the medical teams you found must have been effective. But this woman came on her own and convinced my brother. Under her treatment, Grandfather did improve, so my brother made the decision to let her take over the follow-up."
At this point, there was nothing more Hollis could say. Hollis coldly snorted inwardly but maintained a very polite demeanor as she addressed Riley, "Miss Monroe, I had no idea you'd be capable of that. Even professional medical teams can't compare to you."
Riley scrolled on her phone screen and calmly retorted, "There are many things you have no idea of. So, now that you know about my contract with the Benedict family, any other schemes in mind?"
As the conversation unfolded, Hollis's expression suddenly darkened, though her tone remained innocent. "What do you mean by this? I'm very grateful that you cured Grandpa Benedict. I don't understand why you think I would harm you."
Riley was not interested in playing along and bluntly stated, "You know exactly what I mean. Also, if you have any more schemes in mind, I don't care."
Upon hearing this, Hollis's expression grew even colder, and she didn't respond immediately. On the side, Mia, sensing the tense atmosphere between the two, cautiously interjected, "Hollis, do you two know each other?"
Hollis let out a cold laugh, no longer concealing her hostility towards Riley. "We not only know each other, but you could say we are quite fated."
With that said, she turned to Riley, provocatively asking, "Don't you think so, Miss Monroe?"
Just finishing her payment, Riley heard this remark and glanced at the two with detachment, saying, "Miss Sutton, I don't agree with that. We're not that close. Please refrain from making such statements in the future; I find it quite bothersome."
Hollis's face stiffened, filled with anger.
"It's getting late. You two should go in and have your meal. I won't disturb your enjoyment any longer." Riley calmly nodded at them and walked past with the two kids, not looking back as she left the restaurant.
