Chapter 355 Catherine Still Hadn't Given Up
After thinking it over for a while, Hollis grabbed her phone and called Catherine.
Catherine picked up right away, "Hollis, what's up?"
Hollis sounded really worried. "Mrs. Wilder, can you come over? My arm hurts a lot, and I'm freaking out."
Catherine didn't hesitate. "Hang tight. I'm on my way."
She quickly got dressed and headed out the door. As she got in her car, it hit her that Donovan should be with Hollis. Why did Hollis call her instead?
"Where's Donovan? Isn't he with you?" Catherine asked, confused.
Hollis sounded a bit upset. "I don't know, maybe he's working late. I didn't want to bother him. My parents aren't picking up either, so I called you."
Catherine tried to calm her down. "It's fine. You got hurt saving me, so it's only fair I help you out. Wait at the hospital. I'll be there soon."
Hollis agreed.
After hanging up, Catherine called Donovan. It was late, and she doubted he was still at work.
Donovan had just finished talking with Finley and was leaving her room when he got Catherine's call.
"Where are you? Still at work?" Catherine asked, sounding suspicious.
Donovan guessed why she was calling and sighed. "I'm off work. Finley wasn't feeling well, so I came home to be with her."
Catherine's tone softened. "How's Finley now?"
"Better than this afternoon. She just fell asleep," Donovan replied.
Catherine pressed on, "Hasn't she been fine lately? What happened today?"
Donovan paused, thinking about what had upset Finley, then gave a vague answer. "Maybe it's just a relapse."
He then added seriously, "Dr. Johnson said Finley needs me around right now, so I might not be able to go to the hospital. I can hire a top-notch caregiver for Hollis if needed."
Catherine frowned. "Why not bring Finley to the hospital? She can bond with Hollis. Hollis is good with kids and can take care of her."
Donovan's voice turned cold. "Finley doesn't need to bond with Hollis, and the hospital isn't good for her mental state."
He thought he had made it clear last time at the café that he wouldn't marry Hollis. But it seemed Catherine still hadn't given up.
Feeling irritated, Donovan furrowed his brows. Before Catherine could respond, he said coldly, "Hollis's injury is almost healed. I'll send a caregiver over tomorrow. If you're worried and want to stay with her, that's fine by me."
His icy tone surprised Catherine. She was about to say something, but Donovan cut her off. "Finley's awake. I need to check on her. If there's nothing else, I'm hanging up."
Without waiting for her response, he ended the call, leaving her with a busy signal.
