Chapter 94 What Did He See in Her
Coming back to her senses, Riley suppressed her strange feeling and walked over to the three of them.
Despite running a fever, Finley's eyes still sparkled. When Finley saw Riley come in, her eyes lit up even more, eagerly watching her.
Riley glanced at her with concern.
Finley immediately reached out for Riley to hold her.
Seeing this, Riley instinctively looked at Donovan.
Despite Finley being ill and not staying by her father's side, she wanted Riley to have her.
Donovan, however, calmly handed Finley over to Riley.
Riley hesitated for a moment before reaching out to take Finley.
As she held Finley in her arms, she felt the warmth emanating from the little girl, like a small heater.
Without much thought, Riley habitually touched Finley's cheek with her own to check her temperature.
Feeling the coolness of Finley's face against hers, Riley held her tighter and softly asked, "Are you feeling very uncomfortable with the fever, Finley?"
Finley nodded.
Seeing the redness in Finley's feverish eyes, Riley felt worried about her. She turned to Auntie Cole and asked, "Has she taken the medicine?"
Auntie Cole snapped back to attention and nodded. "Yes, she has."
Then, she looked at Riley cautiously and asked, "Ms. Monroe, when did you come back?"
Auntie Cole had been with the Wilder family for some time, serving Riley when she first arrived and showing great respect for her at the time.
Learning that Ms. Monroe had left without a word surprised Auntie Cole.
She hadn't expected Riley to return.
Hearing Auntie Cole's address, Riley paused for a moment before smiling and saying, "I've been back for a while, and please, don't call me that way anymore. It's been six years since I left the Wilder family."
Auntie Cole realized and felt somewhat sentimental. "You haven't changed at all. I thought. Never mind, I'll be more careful in the future."
Riley nodded.
"Are you here to see Finley?" Auntie Cole inquired.
Riley explained, "I happened to meet someone at a patient's house and heard that Finley wasn't feeling well, so I came to check on her."
Upon hearing this, Auntie Cole felt a pang in her heart and murmured, "Well, with you by her side, Finley will surely get better soon."
Riley was completely unaware of her thoughts, thinking that Auntie Cole was referring to her as a doctor who knew how to treat illnesses, allowing her to accompany Finley and take care of her. Upon hearing this, Riley smiled and nodded. "Don't worry, if Finley needs anything from me, I will help."
Upon hearing this, Auntie Cole felt somewhat puzzled.
She couldn't help but think that her words seemed strange.
'After all, Finley is Riley's biological daughter. Shouldn't Riley be the one taking care of Finley while she's sick?' she thought.
Moreover, with her mother by her side, Finley's mood would surely improve. Auntie Cole had witnessed Riley’s medical skills before.
Back then, when she had some headaches and fevers, Riley had treated her.
Currently, Finley had a fever, so it shouldn't be a big issue for Riley to deal with.
Thinking back to the time when Riley was still at this house, Auntie Cole couldn't help but feel regretful.
Riley was then beautiful and talented, and treated them like family.
But now, Miss Sutton would come over now and then, acting like the mistress of the house in Mr. Wilder's absence, giving orders as if she were superior, not treating them like human beings at all.
She wondered why would Mr. Wilder like Hollis.
Upon hearing Auntie Cole's address, Donovan also felt a moment of confusion.
Then, after hearing Riley correct Auntie Cole, his emotions became somewhat complicated.
