Chapter 253 Sitting Together
People started gathering, and Zoey called everyone to assemble.
The crowd was told to board the bus according to last night's list.
Riley stayed back with her two kids.
The class was all only children, except for Riley's two kids, so they got the last row.
Zoey called out Landon and Winston's names, then noticed the father and daughter around Riley.
"Mr. Wilder, is Finley coming too?"
Donovan nodded. "Yeah, Finley wants to join."
Zoey looked troubled. "But..."
Finley never joined before, so no extra seats or hotel rooms were reserved.
Donovan frowned. "Is there a problem?"
"Since you didn't join before, I didn't plan for it. You might need to squeeze in with other parents," Zoey said apologetically, "I'll fix it."
Donovan hadn't mentioned Finley coming or not, so Zoey should've planned for extras.
Now, with the bus full, Zoey couldn't think of where to get two seats.
Donovan looked at Riley. "Ms. Monroe, you have two kids. Can you free up a seat for me and Finley?"
Riley, about to board, paused.
Zoey, reminded by Donovan, also looked at Riley. "Ms. Monroe, Landon and Winston get along with Finley. What do you think..."
Zoey hoped Riley could free up a seat for Donovan.
But this meant they'd sit together.
Riley suggested, "Mr. Wilder's driver is outside, right? Let him take you and Finley. It's more comfortable."
Donovan's expression didn't change. "I sent the driver back."
Riley pressed her lips, unable to refuse.
Zoey looked at her pleadingly.
After a moment, Riley relented. "Alright, I'll squeeze in with Mr. Wilder."
She boarded the bus, Donovan and Finley following.
The back row had five seats, with a father and daughter already occupying two. The remaining three were for Riley and the kids.
Riley hesitated about whom to hold.
Landon spoke up, "Winston likes to move around in his seat. Let him have his own seat."
Winston agreed, knowing Riley treated them equally. Plus, Landon was right; if he moved, they'd both be uncomfortable.
So, Riley held Landon, freeing a seat for Donovan and Finley.
As Donovan boarded, everyone noticed.
People had seen Finley's behavior towards Riley and now saw Donovan with her.
They were puzzled but assumed it was because the boys got along with Finley.
