Chapter 43 Your Atmosphere is Not Quite Right
With Riley's promise, Dalton felt relieved and smiled, "Since you say so, then I can rest assured. I will prepare the contract tomorrow, and all you need to do is sign it."
Riley nodded.
After discussing the reward, Dalton personally escorted her to the door and watched her drive away. Watching her car leave, Dalton turned and returned to the house, making a call to Donovan.
"How is Grandpa Benedict doing?"
As soon as the call connected, Donovan's voice came through, accompanied by the sound of flowing water.
Dalton smiled, "He has woken up, Dr. Monroe does have some skills."
After speaking, he thought about Donovan's unusual behavior towards Riley earlier and curiously asked, "Van, do you know Dr. Monroe? I always feel that the atmosphere between you two is not right, and I've never seen you act that way towards any other woman."
It was both teasing and defending her.
At first, Dalton thought that Donovan really believed Riley was not capable. However, seeing him step forward to help and even asking Mia to apologize to Riley, he felt puzzled.
He vaguely felt that these two people should have known each other before, but he couldn't guess the exact nature of their relationship.
Donovan answered his call only because he cared about Mr. Benedict's health. Hearing him ask this question, his face slightly darkened, "I don't know her. If I had known her before, I would have asked her to treat Grandpa Benedict long ago."
Just as Dalton finished speaking, the call was already hung up before he could react.
After the call was disconnected, Dalton became even more puzzled.
The tone of Van just now, no matter how he listened, sounded very harsh. Did they really not know each other?
Riley returned home late at night.
Harper was installing LEGO with the two children in the living room.
When they saw Riley return, they put down the LEGO in their hands and stood up to greet her together.
"Mommy!"
The two children affectionately rushed into her arms, concerned, "Why did you come back so late? We're already sleepy."
After speaking, they squinted and yawned.
Riley smiled and touched their heads, "Sorry for making you wait so long."
Afterwards, she raised her eyes to thank Harper.
Harper understood her intention and quickly waved her hand, "Don't be polite with me, these two are my godsons! And you, coming back so late, have you eaten?"
Riley shook her head, "I've been a bit busy and haven't had time to eat."
She was busy treating Mr. Benedict Sr. just now, as well as discussing the supply of medicinal materials with Dalton, so she didn't feel hungry.
Now, hearing her friend mention it, Riley felt a little hungry.
Harper looked at her helplessly, glancing at her, "I knew you would be like this when you get busy. We saved some dinner for you, go eat."
The two children also urged her to eat.
Riley felt warm in her heart as she was pushed to sit at the dining table by the two children and ate something simple.
Harper and the two children accompanied her on the side.
Watching her eat, when Riley had almost finished, Harper asked with concern, "You came back so late today, is the patient's condition very serious? How is the progress?"
Riley smiled and nodded, "The patient's condition is indeed quite serious, but I think I have the confidence to cure him."
Not only that, she can also successfully solve the supply problem of the research institute's medicinal materials.
Thinking about this, Riley felt very happy.
Harper was very certain, "If you say you're confident, then you can definitely cure him. I believe in you!"
