Chapter 307 It's Difficult to Investigate
As Donovan left Riley's place, two strangers exchanged curious looks and quickly made phone calls.
Meanwhile, Hollis had just started the morning meeting at the office when her phone rang. She signaled Beck to take over and hurried to her office to answer.
"Ms. Sutton, we've been watching Riley's house. Yesterday, Mr. Wilder and Miss Wilder came over and stayed until this morning," a male voice reported.
Hollis's face darkened. Ever since Donovan wanted to end their engagement, she'd secretly had people watch Riley, curious about Donovan's connection to her.
The private investigator had only reported one brief visit from Donovan before, making Hollis doubt her suspicions. But now, hearing that Donovan stayed overnight at Riley's place made her furious.
With a cold tone, Hollis ordered, "Keep watching. Especially note any men going in or out of Riley's house!"
They agreed immediately.
After hanging up, Hollis stared blankly at the documents on her desk, then suddenly swept them all to the floor.
'Donovan stayed overnight at Riley's house! How far have they gone?' she wondered angrily.
She remembered the parent-child event at the kindergarten where Donovan and Riley shared a room. Donovan had explained it was due to a room shortage, but now she doubted it.
Fuming, Hollis cursed under her breath, "Riley, you disappeared before, and now you're shamelessly clinging to Donovan!"
Back in The Sutton Group's conference room, the meeting was still going when the door burst open.
Everyone turned to see who it was and were puzzled to see Hollis so angry early in the morning.
"That's it for today's meeting!" Hollis snapped.
She didn't wait for a reaction and turned to Beck. "I need to talk to you!"
Sensing her anger, Beck quickly followed her to the office.
"How's the investigation? Have you found out who the father of those kids is?" Hollis's voice was icy, her expression on the edge of madness. She couldn't wait any longer. What she couldn't have, she wouldn't let Riley get easily.
Beck hesitated, making Hollis more impatient. After a long silence, she threw a folder at him. "I'm asking you a question! Have you lost your voice?"
Used to her temper but still tense, Beck replied carefully, "Ms. Sutton, it's difficult to investigate."
"What do you mean?" Hollis asked through gritted teeth.
Beck met her furious gaze, then looked down again. "It seems Riley's activities abroad have been deliberately erased. Our people can't find anything."
Hollis's face grew darker, and the office atmosphere became more tense.
Beck stayed silent.
After a while, Hollis spoke again. "I don't care how you do it, keep investigating! She can't hide everything!"
Beck quickly agreed.
