Chapter 203 It Can Only Be Hollis
Donovan sneered at his mom's words. "So, what’s Hollis supposed to do if I don’t go through with this engagement?"
Catherine's eyes widened in shock, quickly turning to anger. "What are you talking about? Hollis has done so much for you. Everyone knows about your engagement. If you break it off, how will that make us look?"
Donovan shot back coldly, "I’ve already told you that I’ll handle it myself."
Catherine's face changed as she realized what he meant.
She'd heard from the Sutton family that Donovan had told Hollis himself that he did not intend to marry her.
But she had been skeptical. If Donovan really didn’t want the engagement, why let it drag on?
Now, she heard it straight from him!
Gripping the sofa armrest, Catherine's face went pale with anger. "If you’re not marrying Hollis, then what? Marry Riley again? Have you forgotten what she did?"
Donovan frowned deeply at the mention of Riley and stayed silent.
"If it weren’t for her, you’d be with Hollis by now! The Wilder family wouldn’t have faced such a scandal! Riley left without a word, leaving behind a divorce agreement, and abandoning Finley, allowing such a young child to be sent back alone. She caused chaos in our family. I’ll never let her back in!"
Thinking of Riley made Catherine furious, and she slapped the sofa armrest. "Whether you want to marry Hollis or not, I’ve already announced your engagement. The Wilder family won’t go back on our word. You must marry Hollis!"
Without waiting for Donovan to argue, Catherine glanced upstairs at Finley's room, her tone softening. "Last time, Hollis hurt Finley and hasn’t apologized. I’ll make sure they spend more time together to improve their relationship. Finley needs to accept Hollis."
Seeing Catherine's stubbornness, Donovan frowned.
It was his marriage, yet his opinion didn’t matter, and they were already planning the engagement ceremony.
Even the fact that his beloved daughter was hit could be forgiven by his mom.
He wondered how much Hollis had a hand in all this.
Seeing his silence, Catherine assumed he agreed, and her anger subsided a bit. "The woman in the photo is Riley, right?"
Donovan neither confirmed nor denied.
"I’ll consider today an accident. Your engagement with Hollis is announced. No matter what you’re thinking, keep your distance from that woman and be mindful of the impact on both families."
Catherine thought of something else and frowned. "Also, make sure that woman behaves herself. The woman in the photo can only be Hollis!"
Not giving Donovan a chance to speak, Catherine got up and left with large strides.
