Chapter 168 What Does He Mean
Meanwhile, at the Sutton household, Hollis came back with her parents, all three looking grim.
As soon as she walked in, Hollis angrily flung the high heels off her feet. Alice was trying to appease her, only to see her daughter strode upstairs with an unhappy face. Then there was a deafening slam of the door.
Obviously, she was very angry.
Upstairs, Hollis’s fingers dug into her palms as she trembled with anger. All she could hear were the voices from the party gossiping.
"Look at Hollis, always so arrogant. I thought her marriage to Mr. Wilder was finally happening, but it turns out..."
"The Suttons only rose because of the Wilder family. Seeing Mr. Wilder's attitude, the Sutton family's future looks bleak!"
"After waiting for so long, it all ended up being for nothing? What a joke!"
Ever since Donovan escorted Riley away in front of everyone, the guests' attitudes towards her changed immediately, from initial respect to disdain, even whispering right in front of her. In just a few minutes, she went from being the envy of the City to a laughingstock.
Thinking about her original purpose for tonight, Hollis felt even more frustrated. She had intended to make Riley realize her place, but never expected Donovan to embarrass her in front of so many people.
After tonight, rumors would surely spread in H City's high society that her marriage to Donovan was off. All her years of effort were wasted because of Riley's appearance.
Thinking of this, Hollis's face twisted with rage, and she swept everything off the table onto the floor.
'It's all because of that bitch Riley! If it weren't for her, things wouldn't have come to this! I won't let her off!' Hollis fumed to herself.
Downstairs, Alice and William clearly heard the commotion from Hollis's room. Their faces were just as grim, and their chests heaved with agitation.
"This is too much!" Alice complained, "What does Donovan mean by this? Leaving Hollis in front of so many people, how does that make us look?"
William's face was livid. "He's completely disregarding our Sutton family!"
The noise upstairs continued, and the more they talked, the angrier they got.
Riley was completely unaware of what was happening with the two families.
Because she had some drinks at the party and was tense from being with Donovan, she went to bed early after playing with the kids for a while.
The next morning, she was woken up by Finley's movements, and after holding Finley for a while, she finally woke up completely.
After helping Finley wash up, Olivia had already prepared breakfast, and the boys were already sitting downstairs.
Seeing Riley holding Finley, Landon and Winston looked at her eagerly. "Mommy, do you have a headache?"
Riley sat down with Finley beside them, smiling and shaking her head. "Not at all."
Hearing this, Landon and Winston finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Riley took care of the kids as they ate breakfast. Suddenly, the doorbell of the villa rang. Riley got up to open the door, and seeing the person at the door, she frowned slightly. "So early, what's the matter?"
At the door, Donovan stood tall, and hearing her words, he slightly stepped aside, revealing a row of bodyguards behind him, each holding a large box.
