Chapter 100 Thank You

They walked into a restaurant with a rather rustic ambiance.

Tom ordered a few signature dishes and then handed the menu to Lillian, saying, "Lillian, I don't really know what you like to eat, so you go ahead and order."

Lillian politely declined a few times and then handed the menu to Alexander with a smile, saying, "Let your brother order."

Alexander casually flipped through the menu and ordered a few more dishes.

"By the way, did you tell Lucas that we will eat out tonight and will be back late?" Lillian suddenly asked Alexander.

"I forgot to mention it."

"Then I'll call home and let him know. He was a bit upset yesterday." Lillian said as she walked outside with her phone.

Tom took a slow sip of his coffee and said to Alexander, "Lillian is really great, being good to Lucas too. Aunt always says her family background isn't good, but I think character and virtue are important, especially for the next generation."

Alexander laughed, "You're already thinking about the next generation? You should hurry up then."

"I think it's you who should hurry up." Tom said. "Aunt is eager to have grandchildren. When are you and Lillian going to have kids?"

Alexander chuckled without continuing the topic.

Before long, Lillian returned from her call. She sat down and said to Alexander, "Lucas was a bit upset again. Maybe we should buy him a gift when we go back."

"He's getting more and more clingy. He never used to be upset when I came back late from social events. It's all because you've spoiled him." Alexander said helplessly.

"I think he didn't dare to tell you before. With me around, he finds it easier to express his emotions. I don't think that's a bad thing." Lillian said.

The dishes arrived quickly. Although it was just the few of them, Tom still raised his glass to toast them, wishing them to always be together.

Lillian felt ironic inside, not sentimental, and gulped it down. It was the first time Alexander saw her drink, surprised by how straightforward she was.

Alexander and Tom chatted as they eat, while Lillian was memorizing phone numbers as she ate. She had to memorize the landline numbers of each company, the cell phone numbers and the names of the CEOs and their secretaries. She was rolling her eyes from all the memorizing, not making much progress.

"Lillian, you've been mumbling to yourself for a while now. What are you doing?" Tom asked with amusement.

Lillian said a bit embarrassedly, "Sorry to disturb you. It's some work stuff. I'll be quiet now."

Alexander glanced at her notebook and said, "When you're eating, just focus on eating. Don't try to do two things at once. You'll end up doing neither well."

"Okay." Lillian obediently closed her notebook after being scolded by him.

"Alexander, why are you being so harsh? We're out for a meal. Don't ruin the atmosphere." Tom put a piece of chicken on Lillian's plate.

"Lillian, have you met up with Angela recently?"

"We just had dinner together yesterday."

Tom smiled, a subtle look flashing in his eyes, and said, "We haven't been in touch for a while. Even though we have Facebook, she doesn't post much, so I don't know how she's doing."

Lillian said, "Her gynecology clinic is really busy, with lots of patients. She's especially busy at work. If she has time after work, you can ask her out. She should be available."

"I wouldn't dare to ask her out rashly. What if her boyfriend finds out? That wouldn't be good."

"She doesn't have a boyfriend. She's still single." Lillian laughed. "Who told you she has a boyfriend?"

Tom blinked, "Oh, I must have misunderstood."

"She's such a workaholic. She doesn't have time for a relationship."

Tom smiled faintly, with a hint of satisfaction in his smile.

"By the way, Lillian, I have a friend whose birthday party is the day after tomorrow. What do you think I should get her? She has a mature style, very much like a strong, independent woman." Tom asked for advice.

Lillian thought for a moment and said, "It depends on what she likes. It's hard to give a suggestion without knowing her preferences."

"That's true. It really depends on personal taste." Tom said, "My friend seems to really like anime. Do you have any suggestions in that area?"

"Anime? I like it too. So does Angela. She even does cosplay. Why don't you get your friend an anime costume? She'll probably love it."

"Do you girls all like that? Which characters do you and Angela like? I need to consider that." Tom asked.

"I like cute characters, while Angela is very dedicated. She has always liked Mouri Ran."

"Lillian—" Tom was about to continue asking Lillian questions when Alexander interrupted him.

"We're out for a meal. If you want to figure out how to find a girlfriend, do it at home." He said irritably.

Then he looked at Lillian and asked, "Are you done eating? If you're done, start memorizing those phone numbers."

'Damn! Going out for a meal and treating him like he's invisible, engaging so deeply with others!' He thought indignantly.

Lillian and Tom exchanged glances and stuck out their tongues helplessly.

After the meal, they left the restaurant. Alexander offered to give Tom a ride, but Tom declined.

"No need, I'll just take a cab. You guys go ahead." Tom closed the car door for them and waved.

Alexander didn't insist, told him to go home early, and then left.

Tom watched the car drive away, his smile growing wider. It was really lucky to have Lillian join them for dinner today. 'So Angela is still single. He should seize the opportunity!'

In the car, Lillian continued memorizing numbers while Alexander rested with his eyes closed.

"By the way, was it you arranged for me to be Kaitlyn's assistant?" She asked after memorizing a set of numbers.

"Who else? With your low skill level, do you want people to laugh at you?" Alexander said bluntly. "Your English isn't good. You have no business skills. You don't know how to socialize. Do you think you're fit to be a secretary?"

Lillian accepted his evaluation of her, "According to you, I really am not fit."

"I don't care how you got into the secretary department before. Now that you know you're not fit, I've given you the best teacher. You should learn well and not waste such a good resource. Kaitlyn has been my dad's secretary for over ten years and has a lot of experience."

"Okay, rest assured. I'll learn diligently and won't embarrass you." Lillian promised.

She looked at him again. In the shadows, he was still resting with his eyes closed, looking a bit tired.

"Alexander, thank you!" Lillian said softly.
