Chapter 230 Shae Finds Another Way to Approach Alexander

"Heading out so soon?" Lillian asked, a bit hesitant. "Don't forget breakfast."

"Got it." Alexander gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and gently stroked her hair.

After Alexander left, Lillian saw Oscar and Emily laughing and chatting over breakfast. She felt a twinge of jealousy.

"Got a check-up later?" Lillian asked, plopping down on the couch.

Kelly, sitting next to her, replied, "The doctor will be here once their shift starts."

Lillian nodded and smiled at Kelly. "How's the porridge I made? It's been ages since I cooked."

"It's pretty good," Kelly said, nodding.

Oscar chuckled. "Lillian, come on. You know your cooking is awesome."

Emily chimed in, "I think it's tasty too."

Lillian felt a bit embarrassed by their praise.

After breakfast, the doctor started their shift, and she went with Oscar for his check-up. The doctor said, "It's good you're awake. The wound will heal gradually. You should have heart surgery soon."

"Thanks," Oscar said. "When can I be discharged?"

"We need to keep an eye on you for another week. If everything looks good, you can go home," the doctor replied.

Lillian and Oscar left the office, both letting out a sigh of relief.

"It's fine," Lillian said. "You're lucky. We'll have a happy life together."

"Lillian, I think you're living a happy life now," Oscar said.

Back in the ward, Emily, feeling a bit awkward with Lillian around, sat quietly and asked a few simple questions.

Kelly said to Lillian, "There's not much to do here. You and Dr. Turner can head back. I'll handle things."

"Kelly, don't overwork yourself. Alexander probably hired a nurse, so you can rest when they arrive," Lillian said, glancing at Emily before turning to Oscar. "I'm heading back. Call me on video when you can."

"Lillian, I'll walk you out," Emily offered.

"No need. Kelly will do," Lillian refused coldly.

As they left, Angela asked, "Why are you so cold towards Emily? That's not like you."

Lillian replied, "I just don't like her. Every time Oscar is with her, something happens. I guess I have a mental block against her."

Kelly pressed the elevator button and said, "Emily feels really guilty. She was trying to please you."

Last night, Emily injured her wrist for Oscar, and Alexander had instructed not to tell Lillian. Otherwise, they would have talked to her to change her view of Emily.

Meanwhile, the family elders knew about Alexander's announcement, and Linda was happy, telling Samantha that the wedding should be planned soon.

"Call Alexander and tell him to bring Lillian home for dinner tonight," Linda said to Samantha.

Samantha was puzzled, thinking, 'What led to such an unexpected announcement?'

She felt uneasy because she had intended to give Lillian money to divorce Alexander after the baby was born. But now, it was too late. Lillian was definitely going to be Alexander's wife, and Samantha was full of resentment.

"Mom, let's leave the wedding planning to Alexander," Samantha said. "Besides, Lillian's pregnant, and it's not the best time for a wedding."

"Call Alexander now," Linda said, clearly annoyed. "I'll talk to him when he gets back."

Samantha had no choice but to call him. Alexander agreed after hearing her out.

Meanwhile, Shae had been using her connections to dig up information and finally got a lead. A friend sent her a video of David and some others fighting on the highway, saying, "I heard they were trying to hijack Mr. Sinclair's car, targeting his wife. No one has this video. Mr. Sinclair's bodyguards made us delete it that night."

"Are they nuts?" Shae pieced things together and was sure it was Taylor's doing.

She sneered. "Taylor must have told them I was behind this! That explains Alexander's actions."

"Taylor, you idiot! I regret ever partnering with you!" Shae fumed. "Sending you to Aestrale was too kind. I should have sent you straight to hell!"

After venting, she felt a bit better. She then calmed down and started thinking, 'How do I salvage this situation? Given Alexander's current attitude, it's impossible to regain my innocent image in front of him. I need another plan.'

In the evening, Shae invited Evelyn out for dinner. Evelyn was reluctant but eventually agreed after Shae's persistent persuasion.

At the restaurant, Shae complained to Evelyn, "You only care about work and never ask me out to have fun."

"I've taken on a few picky clients recently, working overtime with my team. I don't have time," Evelyn explained after ordering.

"How have you been? You seem to be doing well," Evelyn asked.

Shae took a sip of tea and said calmly, "I left the Whale Group. I got fired."

Evelyn asked, confused, "How did that happen?"

"It just did." Shae shrugged. "So, can you help me find a job?"

"What do you want to do? Do you still want to be a secretary?" Evelyn thought for a moment, recalling various CEOs she knew. "I know a few CEOs who are good people and have a good relationship with my dad. If you're interested, I can ask them to arrange a position for you. How about that?"

"Do you know any of them well?" Shae asked. "Does Caspian or Mr. Wellington need a secretary? Wouldn't it be better if I worked for them?"

"Are you kidding?" Evelyn said. "Caspian only knows how to enjoy himself; he barely goes to the office. Mr. Wellington's secretary needs to be a law graduate. Neither is suitable."

Shae pouted and nodded. She thought for a moment and asked, "Do you need a secretary or any other position?"

Shae could only approach Alexander through this method. If Alexander ignored her, she would use her friends to achieve her goal.
