Chapter 373 Unrelated to Love
Wendy gently wrapped her arms around his neck and shyly said, "I can do it myself."
"Don't push yourself." Caspian said without looking at her, "I'll have someone bring a wheelchair and crutches tomorrow. It'll be easier for you to go to the bathroom when I'm not around."
As he carried her to the bathroom door and was about to open it, there was a sudden knock. Caspian looked around, trying to find a place to set her down, but there wasn't a suitable spot.
He casually asked, "Who is it?" and decided to carry her to the door.
When the door opened, both the people inside and outside were shocked!
"Holy crap!" Tom exclaimed, laughing, "Caspian, you're living with Wendy!"
Wendy, embarrassed and scared, let out a small cry and hid in Caspian's arms like a rabbit.
Theodore, more composed, smiled mischievously and asked, "Caspian, what's going on here?"
Tom, without any courtesy, said, "Let's go inside and talk."
They forced their way in and closed the door. Tom teased Wendy, poking her with his finger, "Wendy, don't hide."
He then noticed the underwear in Wendy's hand and smirked at Caspian, "Caspian, you and Wendy should go take a shower. No need to entertain us. Mr. Wellington here knows the place well."
"Tom, it's not like that. Don't say such things!" Wendy poked her head out from Caspian's arms and hurriedly explained.
Caspian glared at Tom and said irritably, "You always talk nonsense when you're drunk! Go sit over there!" He then lightly kicked open the bathroom door and went in.
Molly, seeing strangers, barked at the two men.
"Don't bark! We're friends!" Tom said, sitting on the sofa, "These two even have a dog."
Theodore shrugged and laughed, "Caspian likes dogs. It's not surprising he has one."
In the bathroom, Caspian set Wendy down on a chair and reminded her, "Be careful while washing. Call me when you're done."
"They..." Wendy pointed awkwardly towards the door.
"I'll ask them to leave in a bit." Caspian took the underwear from her hand and put it in the basket, "I forgot to bring your pajamas. I'll get them for you."
Caspian went to the room to get the pajamas. Tom whistled at him and said flirtatiously, "Take your time."
He put the pajamas in the basket and left. Wendy sat under the shower, feeling awkward and unsure of what to do. Even though the house was big, the sound of running water could be heard.
'Well, let them hear. A shower is necessary!' Wendy sighed and started undressing.
In the living room, Caspian asked, "Why are you two here instead of going home?"
Theodore, waiting for a while, was almost asleep.
Tom grinned and said, "If we didn't follow you, how would we know your secret? Caspian, this is a good thing. Why hide it? Are you afraid Evelyn will overthink?"
"It's not what you think." Caspian said helplessly, "Wendy sprained her ankle and has no one to take care of her."
"Come on, do you think we'll believe that? If Lillian can't come, what about Angela?" Tom looked unconvinced.
Theodore opened his eyes and agreed, "Yeah, Angela could take care of her."
"Angela went to Atlanta for a meeting." Caspian said leisurely to Theodore, "Didn't you know?"
"I didn't," Theodore said calmly.
Caspian told Tom, "Don't talk nonsense! Wendy doesn't deserve your gossip."
"You're both single. I think you two are a good match. Wendy is better than Evelyn." Tom said.
Caspian, annoyed, said, "Who is better has nothing to do with you. Leave, don't stay here."
Theodore yawned, slowly stood up, and said to Tom, "Tom, let's go. It'll be awkward for Wendy if she comes out of the shower and sees you here."
"What's the big deal?" Tom said nonchalantly, but Theodore dragged him up and said to Caspian, "Caspian, can I come over during the day?"
"No, I'm not here during the day!"
"Not here during the day, but here at night?" Tom raised his eyebrows.
Caspian, irritated, said to Theodore, "Why is he so annoying when he's drunk? Get him out of here!"
Theodore, exhausted, dragged Tom out. As they passed the bathroom, Tom tried to say goodbye, but Caspian quickly covered his mouth and pushed him out!
Wendy heard the door close and asked, "Did they leave?"
"They left, don't worry," Caspian reassured her.
Wendy finished her shower, got dressed, and called for Caspian from the bathroom.
Caspian responded immediately. The bathroom was filled with steam and the scent of body wash. Wendy stood on one leg, leaning against the wall, her face flushed.
Caspian easily picked her up and carried her to the room, teasing, "You feel lighter after a shower."
"I'm very clean, okay?" Wendy retorted playfully, smiling.
Molly, seeing them, happily ran around Caspian's feet.
After placing Wendy on the bed, she asked, "Will Tom spread rumors?"
"He wouldn't dare!"
Caspian plugged in the hairdryer and started drying her hair, saying, "I already explained the situation to them. Considering your reputation, he won't talk nonsense. Don't worry."
"Okay." Wendy reached for the hairdryer, saying, "I can do it myself. You should go to bed."
Caspian dodged her hand and said, "Don't move, it's almost done."
"Don't be so nice to me." Wendy said softly, "What if I fall for you again?"
Though her voice was low, Caspian heard it.
He smiled silently and said, "Wendy, you're a patient now. I'm taking care of you, so I have to do it well. You should understand that with your injury, we'll have close contact. Like today, how many times did I carry you? So, you need to distinguish that this isn't love, it's duty. Understand?"
His words were straightforward and clear!
Wendy reluctantly agreed, feeling sad.
"I understand what you're saying. I just mean that I'll do what I can myself. I don't want to cause too many misunderstandings."
"Do what you can. But for drying your hair, I think it's better if I do it. If you don't like it, you can do it yourself tomorrow."
Caspian turned off the hairdryer, placed it on the table, and helped her tuck in the blanket, saying, "Get some sleep. Good night."
"Good night."
Molly followed Caspian out, hopping happily.
Wendy, too lazy to call her back, lay in bed. His words made her feel a bit embarrassed like she was being wishful thinking. She pulled the blanket over her head, trying not to overthink.
