Chapter 141 Lillian is Pregnant
Luke cried bitterly. "But before, when I was in school, I could stay at Uncle Alexander's house."
Lillian couldn't help but glance at Jackson, then gently said to Luke, "Nico and Jackson returned. It would help if you missed them. Moreover, you can visit Uncle Alexander's house."
"I don't want to! They are not my mom and dad!" Luke cried heartbrokenly, clinging to her neck, and said excitedly. "You and Uncle Alexander are my mom and dad. You treat me well. I want to live with you!"
Luke's heartfelt words brought tears to Lillian's eyes. She held back her tears, unable to speak, and kept wiping his tears away.
Alexander walked over, pulled Jackson aside, and asked, "Why are you in such a hurry to take Luke away? What's going on?"
Jackson said helplessly, "Nico is sick. She misses Luke, so she asked me to pick him up tonight."
"If you aggressively take him back, he'll weep and fuss at home. It will be unsettling. She should rest if she's sick. This way, she won’t infect Luke. Think about it. Nico's demands can't be followed," Alexander said angrily.
Seeing his son crying so miserably, Jackson couldn't bear to take him away and said, "Then let Luke stay here. When Nico gets better, I'll bring her to see him."
Alexander asked suspiciously, "What illness does Nico have? Is it serious?" He paused and continued, "You left the child with me to ensure his safety. There's nothing wrong with your mom and brother, right?"
"Not for now," Jackson said, frowning and looking troubled. He sighed and said to Alexander, "You guessed right. Recently, Nico has been sick. She's tired and feeble. After taking her to the hospital for a checkup, they found nothing, which worries me more."
Alexander asked, "Do you suspect poisoning?"
Jackson nodded silently and said, "Nico also feels odd when lucid. I'll locate a trustworthy person and a good doctor to examine Nico."
Alexander said, "Don't alert anyone. Returning Luke now is unwise. I know a doctor who is Lily's friend. I'll contact her. You can take Nico to her for a checkup."
"Is she reliable?" Jackson asked cautiously.
"Observe first. Just take Nico for a regular checkup and see what she says," Alexander said. "We'll plan further after that."
"Alright, send me the address tonight," Jackson said eagerly.
After speaking, they walked towards Luke. Luke was still crying. Seeing Jackson approach, he clung tightly to Lillian and shouted, "I don't want to go back!"
Feeling heartbroken, Jackson patted his son's head, squatted down, and gently said, "Luke, it is my bad. I'm sorry. If you don't want to go with Daddy, stay at your uncle Alexander's house. When you miss Mom and Dad, phone Daddy to come fetch you."
"Really?" Luke asked in surprise, looking at Alexander.
Alexander smiled and said, "Jackson isn't lying to you."
Hearing it, Luke finally believed it, smiled, and happily said, "Lillian, I'm not leaving! This is great!"
Lillian shared in his joy, and for a moment, she seemed to see tears glistening in Jackson's eyes.
After Jackson left, Lillian escorted Luke to his room. Luke had a bath, changed into pajamas, and sat on Lillian's lap, saying, "You're great. You're my mom."
Lillian hugged him, knowing recent events had undermined his confidence. She wondered if Luke needed a psychologist after this. His words, the best compliment she could receive, moved her.
Alexander suddenly entered the room, followed by Kelly.
"Lillian, you've had a long day. Go back to your room and rest tonight," Kelly said to her.
"Why? Kelly, Lillian sleeps with me and Uncle Alexander."
Alexander took off his coat and said sternly, "Luke, tonight, Lillian will sleep in her room. Don't make a fuss and go to bed."
Lillian thought, 'Kelly is always kind and understanding.'
They had spent the day outside, so she was indeed very tired.
"Luke, be good and go to sleep. You have school tomorrow. Goodnight." Lillian kissed his cheek and followed Kelly out of the room.
She returned to her room, only to find Kelly following her in.
"Kelly, what's wrong?" she asked curiously.
Kelly waved her hand dismissively. "Nothing, take a bath first."
Seeing Kelly sit on the small sofa, Lillian, feeling puzzled, took her clothes and went into the bathroom.
Hearing the sound of water, Kelly got up and reminded her at the bathroom door, "Be careful, the floor is wet. Don't slip."
"I know," Lillian said.
After her bath, Lillian came out and saw Kelly still in the room. She smiled and asked, "Kelly, do you have something to tell me?"
"Is your stomach still uncomfortable? Do you still feel like vomiting?" Kelly asked considerately.
Lillian sat at the dressing table, picked up the hairdryer, and said, "I feel fine now."
"Luke was clinging to you earlier and sitting on you. Are you feeling alright?" Kelly asked.
"I'm fine," Lillian replied.
Kelly took the hairdryer from her hand and began drying her hair, saying, "You shouldn't use this too often. It has radiation."
"Kelly, what's wrong? You're acting strange tonight," Lillian asked with a puzzled and uneasy smile.
Kelly looked at her kindly and said, "I won't disturb you anymore. Dry your hair and go to bed early. Don't play on your phone."
"Alright, I promise!" Lillian replied with a laugh.
Kelly left her room, smiling contentedly. Whether Lillian was pregnant would be confirmed with a checkup tomorrow.
After putting Luke to sleep, Alexander lay awake, staring at the ceiling, thinking about what Kelly had told him.
"Alexander, it's best to tell you something," Kelly said.
"What is it?" Alexander asked.
"Lillian seems to be pregnant!" Kelly said. "Take her for a checkup tomorrow."
Alexander was momentarily stunned. He thought, ‘Is Lillian pregnant? Is it from that single intimacy in Aetherland?’ That was their only time together, although Lillian took contraceptives to avoid pregnancy.
"I understand," Alexander replied, surprised rather than happy.
"Lillian is pregnant," Alexander muttered, imagining what it would be like to be a father. Although his feelings were confusing, it was novel.
