Chapter 145 Lillian's Status Elevated
Kelly carefully prepared a delicious meat-and-vegetable dinner.
Luke and Alexander sat in the dining room. After seeing her going to the kitchen, they said, "Don't eat in the kitchen anymore. From now on, dine with us in the dining room."
Luke took her hand and said, "Lillian, from now on, dine with Uncle Alexander and me. Don't eat in the kitchen anymore."
Lillian sat down in a chair and asked Alexander with a smile, "Has my status improved? I can actually dine at the same table with you now."
"Stop joking and eat." Alexander laughed as well, placing a piece of beef on her plate.
Lillian gladly received it without feeling honored. She ate for free with Alexander, and she didn't care if she was pregnant or if he liked her.
"This beef tenderloin is from young, tender cattle. Eat more," Alexander said, placing another on her plate.
"I asked Kelly to make some soup. Do you want some now?" Alexander asked.
With her mouth full of beef, Lillian shook her head and said, "I don't want any. The beef is delicious. I'll have more beef."
After she finished speaking, she placed some on Luke's plate and said to him, "Eat more, too, so you can grow taller."
Alexander looked at Luke and asked, "School starts tomorrow. Have you packed your backpack?"
"Yes," Luke replied obediently, then smiled at them and said, "Uncle Alexander, Lillian, the three of us are a family now. You are my mom and dad. This feeling is wonderful."
He continued, "The teacher assigned us homework today to draw a family portrait tonight. I did a great job. When the little boy in Lillian's belly is born, we'll be a family of four!"
Lillian laughed. "How do you know it's a boy?"
"Kelly told me," Luke said excitedly, "Then I'll be a big brother, and I'll protect my little brother!"
Lillian patted Luke's head and said appreciatively, "You're amazing."
Alexander also smiled and said while eating, "If it's a girl, would you like her?"
"I'd like a sister even more!" Luke said.
"I also hope it's a daughter," Lillian agreed.
Then, Lillian and Luke looked at Alexander together.
"Uncle Alexander, do you prefer a son or a daughter?"
"Alexander, do you prefer a son or a daughter?"
Alexander looked at them and smiled. "I like both."
Lillian chuckled, thinking, 'Whether his words are true or not, they are pleasant to hear.'
After dinner, Lillian returned to her room first. Just as she lay down on the bed, Kelly knocked and came in.
"Lillian, did you have any morning sickness during dinner?" Kelly asked.
"No, I ate very well. I had a lot of beef," Lillian sat up and said, "Kelly, thank you. Don't worry. Regular meals with enough nutrition are fine."
Kelly handed her the soup and said, "Of course, I have to prepare dinner carefully for you. You're carrying the Sinclair family's child. We can't let you eat poorly. I'm very healthy, so don't worry. Just focus on the fetus's development."
Lillian took the soup. Kelly was right. The Sinclair family lacked nothing. With a pregnant granddaughter-in-law, they would naturally provide the best food. It was impossible to be careless. She was just focused on the present.
The rich aroma of the meat soup made her gag uncontrollably. She quickly pushed it away and said to Kelly in distress, "Kelly, I can't handle this. Please take it away. I'm going to be sick."
"I'll take it away right now." Kelly hurriedly took the soup and left.
Lillian opened the window and took a deep breath of fresh air, finally suppressing the nausea and exhaling a long breath.
Seeing that it was still early and feeling well, she took a book and went to his study.
When Alexander saw her, he asked, "What's wrong?"
Lillian replied, "Of course, it's for my language lessons." She then noticed several documents spread out on the desk and asked, "Are you busy? If so, I won't have my lesson tonight."
Alexander put the documents away and asked considerately, "Are you feeling alright? Are your pregnancy symptoms severe?"
"No, I'm fine," Lillian said. "It's just that I couldn't handle the soup Kelly brought me. I think I might be sensitive to the smell."
Alexander nodded seriously and then got up to bring a chair over, saying, "Then just study for a little while."
Lillian sat down and said, "Don't discourage my enthusiasm. Let's keep it as usual."
Alexander started the lecture cautiously, pausing to ask if she understood. Lillian was energetic initially, but after twenty minutes, her eyelids got heavier, and her brain felt sleepy. His voice grew lower and distant.
Alexander halted, staring at her helplessly and amusedly. She propped her head up with her hand, eyes closed, like a sleeping cat.
"Lillian." He touched her cheek with his finger, feeling the soft, plump skin.
She lazily responded and then slumped over the desk.
"Aren't you going to study?" he asked softly, watching her leisurely.
She was probably too tired, unable to say anything in her drowsiness.
Alexander observed her silently, thinking of their initial meeting, Aetherland's dangers, and now this serene time. Within months, they had made great strides.
Outside the door, Kelly knocked. "Alexander."
Alexander straightened up and said calmly, "Come in."
Kelly entered and saw Lillian asleep on the desk. Puzzled, she asked, "Why is Lillian sleeping here?"
"Maybe my lesson was too boring." Alexander chuckled lightly and asked, "What's wrong?"
Kelly said, "Lillian can't drink the meat soup, so I plan to make a vegetable soup for her tomorrow. Also, Mrs. Linda Sinclair will be visiting tomorrow."
"Grandma and Mom will have a tough night," Alexander said with a wry smile. "Prepare a larger breakfast tomorrow. I suspect Grandma will stay for a while. Please get the guest room ready."
"Mrs. Linda Sinclair is just happy," Kelly said. "If nothing else, I'll depart. Don't let Lillian sleep in the study."
"I'll take her to my room in a bit. You and Melvin should rest early," Alexander said nonchalantly.
After leaving the study, Kelly chuckled, thinking, 'Mr. Sinclair had finally changed. He had accepted Lillian.'
Alexander returned Lillian to his room and went to her chamber to get her nightgown. Helping her change sped up his heart. He laughed at himself, 'I'm not a young man anymore. Why am I so nervous?'
