Chapter 98 Not Interested
At Blues Cafe.
After having dinner, Alexander, Caspian, and Theodore leisurely sipped their coffee.
"Isn't Blake an idiot?" Caspian sneered, "He's never been as smart as you, yet he enjoys it."
Alexander took a sip of coffee and said, "It's his mom who made all this happen."
Theodore asked, "Was Lillian scared?"
"She was indeed quite frightened." Alexander changed his tone and chuckled, "But after being scared, she became much bolder. She even dares to negotiate with me now."
Caspian and Theodore laughed.
"Has your relationship with your wife improved because of this?" Caspian asked with interest.
Alexander smiled casually and said, "That day, to return a favor, I accompanied her back to her home. I felt she was the only normal one in her family."
"Is she not what you thought?" Theodore asked curiously.
Alexander said, "What she's like has nothing to do with me. I just suddenly felt she's quite strong. Her living environment is actually very tough."
Theodore said, "You've closed your heart for too long. You should try to like other women."
"Theodore is right. Amy has been gone for so long. You should move on. Do you really plan to stay loyal to her for a lifetime?" Caspian echoed.
Alexander shook his head without desire, "I'm not interested. I'm not interested in anyone, not even Lillian."
Caspian pursed his lips and said to Alexander, "You might have to be interested in men in the future." They laughed after he finished speaking.
Alexander was speechless, not willing to respond.
They chatted about other things, and then Alexander decided to leave.
Caspian said, "We've had so much coffee with you. Let's go to a bar next."
Alexander said, "No, Lucas is still waiting at home. Lillian and I haven't gone back yet tonight."
Theodore said, "Then you go back. We'll go."
Alexander got in the car. Kevin drove away.
Caspian watched the car disappear and said to Theodore, "Alexander is married and still in such a hurry to go home. I think he and Lillian might be together for a long time."
"I hope so. This can help Alexander speed up the process of overcoming his inner turmoil." Theodore said with emotion.
Kevin drove the car head toward Alexander's home.
On the way, Alexander asked him, "Did Lillian call you?"
"No, sir," Kevin replied.
Alexander looked at the time and said, "Then take the road to Shopping Boulevard."
The car sped down the road. Kevin's phone suddenly received a Facebook notification. At a red light, he opened it.
Lillian: [Kevin, I'm almost done here. You can come pick me up. I'm still at Shopping Boulevard.]
Kevin reported to Alexander, "Alexander, Lillian asked me to pick her up now. She's still at Shopping Boulevard."
Alexander nodded, indicating he understood.
Three girls came out of the store, chatting and laughing, standing not far from the store entrance, still talking.
"Why is he letting someone pick you up today? Is he treating you this well?" Angela, tall and prominent among them, asked sarcastically.
Lillian laughed, "Maybe he's afraid I'll drink too much and do something outrageous, embarrassing the Sinclair family."
"Isn't it because he knows you get lost easily at night and can't find your way home?" Wendy asked, puzzled.
Lillian and Angela both knocked on her head, "You're so naive."
By the roadside, Alexander's car was parked there. He looked at Lillian through the car window. He pondered, 'With her friends, she seemed like a different person, lively and cheerful, laughing heartily. Even from this distance, he seemed to hear her laughter. Her relaxed state was never seen at home. This was the real her, right?'
Kevin saw him quietly watching and tentatively asked, "Alexander, shall I go down to pick up Lillian now?"
Alexander withdrew his gaze and nodded slightly.
Lillian was laughing heartily at something funny when Kevin walked over, slightly bowed, and said to Lillian, "Lillian, can we go now?"
Lillian said, "Kevin, thank you for picking me up."
She then said to Angela and Wendy, "I'll go now. I'll send you a Facebook message when I get home."
"Bye-bye." They waved goodbye to Lillian.
Lillian got in the car, fastening her seatbelt, and said to Kevin, "Kevin, have you been nearby all this time? How did you get here so quickly?"
"No, I was with Alexander. We took this road on purpose. You happened to call." Kevin replied.
'Alexander?' Lillian suddenly turned to see Alexander resting with his eyes closed.
She quietly turned back. 'Why was he in the car? Didn't he go home?'
"Where did you guys go just now?" she asked in a very low voice.
Kevin said, "Alexander had dinner with Caspian and Theodore."
"Okay." Lillian understood and said no more.
After getting home, Lillian washed up quickly and went to bed. She was tired today and had agreed with Lucas to go over tonight.
The next day, Lillian received a Facebook message from Taylor on the subway. The materials that needed to be organized yesterday were not sent to her email. She came early in the morning to question her.
Surrounded by people, Lillian could guess Taylor's tone wouldn't be good. She didn't listen to the voice message, converting it directly to text. The text looked like a question, but she could imagine Taylor's tone. She didn't reply, planning to let her talk to Alexander when she got to the office.
When Lillian arrived at the office, Taylor indeed came over aggressively to question her, "I sent you a Facebook message without replying. Why didn't you send the materials to my email?"
Lillian was about to speak when someone behind her called out, "Good morning, Mr. Sinclair."
Alexander walked over briskly, looking serious, and said, "Taylor, come to my office."
Taylor felt a bit nervous and quickly responded, "Okay."
Lillian returned to her workstation. Shirley asked, "Didn't you send it to her yesterday?"
"Don't mention it. I was working overtime. Alexander saw it. He wasn't happy and told me to stop, so I went home." Lillian whispered to her.
Shirley smiled meaningfully and said, "Then Taylor is getting scolded in there."
After more than ten minutes, Taylor came out of the president's office with a gloomy face and teary eyes, returning to her desk to pack her things.
Alexis saw this and walked over to ask softly, "Taylor, did you resign?"
Taylor shook her head and said angrily, "No, I've been transferred to logistics."
"Why?" Alexis asked in surprise, "Then who will take your position?"
Taylor glared at her, "It's not you, anyway!"
Lillian and her colleagues heard the commotion and peeked over, whispering to each other.
When Taylor walked by with her box, she stopped and glared at Lillian with resentment, looking like she wanted to eat her alive. Lillian looked back at her calmly, without saying a word. In the end, Taylor didn't say anything either, carrying her anger into the elevator.
